5/24 /17 had the option to apply a local.
1st time the system wanted only look to SD.
next time looked to USB....Wth !??
Moved zip to exterior storage.,..Viola, done.

I haven't found an OTA Update app that I like yet, so you're stuck installing OTA updates using TWRP. Type "reboot recovery" in Terminal, swipe to allow changes, click Install, select the source (SD card or USB flash drive with your .zip file), and swipe to install. I also recommend using Wipe after that to do a factory reset.

I'm feeling kinda supid right now, but where is the Update App for OTA update? Can't seem to find it, only the Update under Settings where you can't point to a file. I'm on an older version of the Stock version. Can't remember this problem originally - maybe it's been accidentally uninstalled?
Note: I don't have male 2 male usb cabel, and I'm only using a Logitec Harmony remote as I almost only use LIBREELEC, for now.

An audio "pop" had started...associated with vids starting, @ unpause, and other window actions.
wiring and hardware in setup is all correct.
- any ideas? Where to start troubleshooting?

If you want the standard Mecool UI, then install the stock OEM firmware. If you want standard Nexus UI, install Nano or Stock variant, and if you want Nexus Player UI (Android TV), then install TVStock.

btw what diffrent between Mecool M8S Pro TVStock Nexus ROM (Android TV 7.1) and Mecool M8S Pro Stock & Nano Nexus ROMs (Android 7.1)...

You can certainly update using the UPDATE application, but it will replace the logo screen and boot animation. (I'm using the standard Nougat boot animation.)

If you really like the MECOOL boot animation, the ROM is rooted and so you can just swap it back. It's located at system/media/bootanimation.zip.

Evening Magendanz, I want to ask you a question I have ms8 pro of 2 / 16gb rom OEM ROM, NMF26Q/20170817.103347.V0321, can i direct updated via updater app and choose local file... btw ur update_M8S_PRO-V0619_Stock-20171005 rom still got MECO0L boot animation?

If I understand the question correctly, then yes. You can install either of the OTA updates in post #87 above over previous releases of the Nano variant. Just go into TWRP, select Install, select your source (SD card, etc), pick the update .zip file and swipe to flash it. A data wipe (factory reset) is also recommended, but you might be able get away without it for incremental updates.

While this OEM firmware release was the first for Android TV and used the Google Play Store for Android TV, both the Nano and Stock variants here are regular, non-ATV ROMs. They use the standard Google Play Store and the same launchers you'd see on Nexus tablets and phones.

No, this update is for the M8S Pro. The main difference between the two is the Widevine L1 support, and so I was able to use the 20170918.111557.V0619 OEM release for both. (This update probably also works on the M8S Pro L, but I don't have that hardware yet and so can't confirm.)
