New H96 Pro+ bricked itself after a couple of hours use. Help me diagnose / rescue, is the hardware dead?

Though I'm a newbie I'll try to offer some help. My box I thought was also bricked and I couldn't boot. But I was still seeing the blue led light on during boot up but was not strong light (just a blue light not strong enough). By changing the charger (with another 5V 3A) the blue light became very strong and there I realized that the charger was damaged (the stock charger is a very cheap one with B class capacitors inside that can burn very easily with a simple thunderstorm if plugged in). Then in order the box to be connected via the USB Burning tool with my laptop or PC I followed the instructions in a video I saw in YouTube of how to bridge (short out) 2 consecutive pins of a chip in motherboard inside. Very simple steps - just experiment in our Box to find the right pins (not the same one as in the video). And voila - the Box was connected - and managed to flash the FW and after boot up normally. Last advice. You must have the absolute right FW file for your own box - as all boxes not accept same FW file even if they look exact same specs. Depends on the maker of the chip/motherboard. My correct FW was the one dated 26/08/17 for H96 Pro+. I suppose you must experiment there with other FW files if one is not flashing and you see 100% complete message. Good Luck. Imagine I made it that I'm a newbie.

I'm waiting too!! Works somewhat now with SCV7A rom. Can't wait for a proper custom one! I wonder how many banggood's customers will end up here since they provide the wrong rom?

Before try / experiment with other FW either via USB or SD card - replace power charger with a new one 5V/3A and test. Those supplied chargers value a piece of shit.

The adapter it comes with is supposed to be 2.5A. I ordered a 5V 3A one and it will be here this week. I hear ticking sound inside the box when plugged in now. And no more lights. I think, it's totally bricked. Bricked by the adapter maybe.

Good you ordered a new adapter. If now you see even a very low blue led light it's OK. When you will plugin the new healthy adapter you will see a strong blue light. I don't believe it's bricked. If later when trying to connect your box with your PC or laptop via male to male USB cable and it's not identified/connected just follow cautiously the steps of my previous posts here. Make sure your USB port in your box it's the one closest to the AC/DC hole. Only that may be used for USB Burning Tool. I'm sure you will make it in the end. Good Luck.

You're right. The adapter was bad .
I just loaded the freaktab's own flash.

Are all devices here "bricked" after normal usage, so not while burning sc rom for "plain" ddr3?
Does ram configuration, not only the type, make any difference? Looks like superceleron's rom is confirmed on boards with 2 ddr3 blocks.
Have purchased last week banggood one, but have, i believe, 8 ddr3 chips, 4 per each side of the pcb. Looks like 2+1GB sets were combined ... So, had anyone tried sc rom on that ram config (or all here do have lpddr3)?

                                1. Hallo, everybody, i also has exactly the same box and has same problem, no boot no display only blue led blinking. I have tried hundreds of times and always stuck at 2% in usb burning tool. Than i powered the box with a power bank on the usb port just alongside the sd card slot and used aml_7.1.2_s912_q9377-H96PROPLUS_LP_KDMC_mac-20171010. burning process completed in first try. So you must try that procedure:-- 1.-at first disconnect your network connection. 2.-turn off your antivirus program. 3.-open USB Burning Tool 2.0.8 and change language to english . 4.-select firmware image and tick "erase flash " and "erase bootloader " boxes .( with normal erase) 5.-power up you box with a power bank at the usb port alongside sd card slot (for that, you have to open the box) . 6.- now connect the other usb A to A cable to your pcand the other end to usb slot near power port on box. 7.- check if box is detected by pc or not (use USBDview , it will show all conected usb devices) 8.-if box is not connected try shuffling usb port. when connected it will shown as WORLDCUP DEVICE. 9.-now it will also be shown in usb burning tool in device id as "HUB5-4 "or else numbers after word HUB. 10.-now in usb burning tool push start button and process will be started and no stuckung at 2% or 4% ,it will take some time after reaching 95% or 98% ,and in few seconds it get completed. 11.-push stop button and unplug usb cable and you have done !!! i think it may be helpffull to all of those suffering burn failure erorr at 2% and 4%.
