With an Intel MiniPC, you can even set up Kodi to run on startup and everything can work with an airmouse, the same as on Android, far better than with an ir remote.
You can run Netflix, Amazon Prime and even websites fullscreen with easy shortcuts with a special Kodi addon.
Just close Kodi and you can have Windows 10 or Linux or even install an Android Emulator to run Android apps again.

Can you class action against Mecool for false advertising(Netflix HD, Widevine L1)?, or is trying to sue an offshore a fruitless pursuit?

and what does Mecool have to say for themselves?

Kodi is amazing, but it doesn't has the same interface from the Netflix, Prime, YouTube..in yours plugins.. it's worse... By far.. Navigate in lists ...

Open an emulator to run Android apps... Is it versatile, common ? Sorry man, two things very different...

Donno, windows media server does well enough and far better than any android based experience, and it's not as kludgey as ATV, Kodi and others, plus I have a windows media server remote for any future plans using windows media server.

As for voice, never used it both on android phone and box. Just find it annoying more than a benefit. I rarely search anyway, as my programme guide keeps track of releases that I watch, and has an upcoming release page that covers all videos of what will be available in a months time or so.

If I were a Netflix fan boy, maybe the search function will be a benefit, because Netflix has krappy interface for programmes.

Anywho there is nothing Netflix has that I can't watch live on date of release or find on my streaming apps for free, or paid for on my Internet TV subscription. Though i need 40 streaming apps to cover all the channels, instead just using Netflix.

I guess it's an apples and oranges comparison.

No, I'm not a Netflix fanboy lol.. To be serious, Netflix is my last search when I want to see a movie hehe...

Windows Media Server I can't talk about to, cause I haven't been using... Years ago...

I don't think ATV "kludgey", maybe it still has few apps in my opinion.

Use Windows as media center is the same as use it in a tablet in its tablets version... Still not useful!

I have it on my laptop, which is a full blown server. Just haven't used it for TV in years since using a Samsung tablet to stream to my TV using miracast, which allowed me to mess with the tablet while watching what ever on my telly. Since for about a year, now on a dedicated android TV box, and it's been good and bad. Mostly because of Google, and the lack of full support in getting a proper interface.

The best route was basic box modded with a basic ATV patch, to allow all phone apps to fully function with ATV apps. This allowed any launcher i chose, which made the interface near perfect. Now that ATV apps are being updated to use Google streaming strategies they don't play well on older s912 boxes and phone based os.

i am going to check on replacing some system files to fix the recent issues found wih newly released app updates. I think the issue is with ATV framework, and i may be able to swap some phone frameworks into place. Depending on kernel used.

The only two firmwares for s912 that look promising is eye TV and ultimate ATV experience. Though they require a bit of stripping down to base firmware, since at least one is based on phone framework already, since it is most compatible than year old firmwares that many are running.

You can install different skins for Kodi and even change the view layout from the left side to not have lists.

                  Lots of Android emulators

                  Eg. Bluestacks

You can just install it as a program or even get Android OS's like Bliss that can run from a flash drive on a Windows tv box or PC.

Of course! But nothing specific is written there. I need some tv box brands and models for example .

thank you for infos. Netflix HD isn't working anymore also in Mecool M8S Pro+ (paid 25? from gearbest).
anyway i'm using a SD netflix version, found on youtube and without any permission request, that works with tvbox remote.
                          Better than nothing
Cleval user upload it here: https://mega.nz/#!6Zc33CDZ!IcN0RWOY7...hKvqA4iZi8cKc0
ps. remember to disable updates from google market if you have stock android. in my case isn't necessary because play store is for androidtv and this app is for stock android

Netflix is being killed off in all devices. The whole entertainment streaming media is doing it by the way. I have a Mecool, a MK809V, Tanix 3 mini and a MX10. All of them aren't running anything over 480p. I believe this sudden move has something to do with the fact that Widevine L3 protection was hacked some days ago.

I already unsubscribed from Netflix as I am a five years paying costumer that never used their services beyond streaming, never downloaded anything. I can?t buy one of the devices they approve off as I don't have the money.Thirty minutes ago I also tried to rent a movie from Google Play, which not a month ago was showing HD just fine, and the resolution I could get was 480p no matter if on their Google Play Movie or the You tube.

All chinese boxes are now useless for streaming anything beyond Youtube.

You Tube? It's the last thing I use as it its mostly clips not movies, or red which us low budget and fan funded shorts... ever try Movies Anywhere, Vudu or Sony 4K app. Those apps don't care what box you have, as long as it has the ability to play HD or better content.

I have 30 streaming apps, and half are tablet / phone based, which have pretty good picture. Well enough for 65" television. HBO Go and a few other paid subscription through providers carry DTS streams, even though they are phone / tablet apps.

I don't have any issues with using an air mouse with full keyboard on back side remote, for apps that are mouse or touch driven.
