Yes it works
Change build.prop to ro.product.model=GT-I9300 and ro.product.manufacturer=Samsung

On another note what drives me crazy that after reboot I have to disable and enable ethernet to get it working, any fix on that? Thanks!

Follow these steps
1) Install app from Google Play - SManager
2) Create a new file with the extension "sh"
3) Edit the file as follows:

ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 up

4) Run SManger, and configure it to run at system startup the script that you created in step 3.
Make sure that the script is run with root permissions, and most likely that you have installed Busybox.

Just replace the kernel in the zip file with an overclocked MK808 3.0.8 kernel from here - http://www.multiupload.nl/L2LWQ0N3GC
Remember to rename the kernel to kernel.img before replacing it in the rom's zip file.

Is there any Android 4.1 or CWM roms for mx1 and which it the newest, best at the moment?
I read Rikomagic MK802IIIS roms also work on mx1.
If there is a decent rom for mx1, I can try to update it like this rom, don't want to update an old rom that no one is going to use.

One problem is that I can't figure out how to install cwm with this rom.

Yes, it works on MiniX Neo X5 but not sure about X5 Mini? It should work as it has the same hardware.
Just change the kernel in the zip file with a MiniX X5 Mini Android 4.1, 3.0.8 one.

If you don't have one, you can use this tool to extract it from a stock rom. It will be copied to the temp folder of the app.

Try the MK808, Android 4.1 720p, kernel_cpu1416_gpu400_ddrstock
Iif you go higher for the CPU you need extra cooling or a heatsink. Anything for CPU from stock to 1512 should work. Also the max the GPU can run is 400 mhz, it's a limitation on dual core TV Sticks at the moment, the 533 mhz GPU will actually make your device run slower. Even editing boot.img won't work, it was confirmed by the developer of the overclock tool for kernels.
You can use nofrillscpu(included) or setcpu to lower the CPU speed if needed.
If you do use an overclocked kernel eg 1512 cpu, 400 gpu and 533 ddr make sure you have a heatsink and extra cooling otherwise your device will overheat and break.

The kernel that is included is only for MK808B and is 1416 cpu, 400 gpu & stock ddr.

Only change kernel.img for MK808. Make sure it's Android 4.1, 3.0.8 kernel.

MiniX Neo X5 Mini kernel might not work since it's Android 4.2, 3.0.36 kernel and not Android 4.1.
The overclocked kernel I made for MiniX Neo X5 Mini might only work on the stock Mini's firmware, just flash with RKAndroidTools v1.37 and only select kernel and flash not IDB erase.
