I am totally on board with removing as much crap as possible. If you want some of the Chinese Apps, stay stock...
I just can't be like burger king.... have it your way....

Randy may have made a few other changes, but bootanimation was the biggest problem with the original 1.9. If you can delete that file, your short power button issue should clear up and wouldn't be all that different from a re-installed 1.9test2. If you were really going to reinstall and have that much stuff, I'd wait and do the re-install after Randy releases the next one!

Check if you have an App called ES File Explorer. It isn't present in Test2, but MIGHT still have been there in the original. It could be used to remove bootanimation. It might take some explaining, but would work. It is also available in Play Store. As is GPS test that was removed.

I favor the slimmed down next release, but it also means it will take away my way of making /system/ have more free space.

When you changed the preferences in ES File Explorer, did you get a request from Superuser?

In ES Explorer, select the Tools at the bottom on the left side, then go down on the left to Root Explorer. I imagine it present says Off. If it is On (or once you turn it on), tap Root Explorer and you should get a pop up. Tap Mount R/W and on that window, change /system to RW instead of RO and you should be able to delete or rename Bootanimation.zip.

Edit: If you do a long press on bootanimation.zip to get it selected and pick More in the bottom right, Properties should tell you size and creation date. Test2 is 2.44MB created on 26Oct.

in ES File Explorer do: tools > root explorer > on > mount r/w (read/write) then make your change to /system/ (being very careful), then as soon as you are done go back and put it back into read-only mode.

After turning ON, tap once on Root Explorer words and it should pop up a choice to Mount RW.

I hope pipo or someone work on the at commands of the 3g modem... would really love to be able to send ussd/service codes... annoying to have to swap the simcard to a phone...

Let me mention that already after the first flashing (before reset) I replaced the bootanimation file with one of my own (a small DNA spiral).

                      Hello,

I'm not sure, but I think I have the 1.9 T2 ROM, and the power button only sleeps the tablet after I removed the bootanimation. Before that, it was working like a poweroff/reboot button.

I was suffering from WiFi disconnections, and this ROM seems to fix the WiFi issue that was disturbing me so much! I only tested for 2h, but previously the WiFi never worked continuously for so long.

                      Best regards.

                        in or out for v2.0

Morning all. In answer to Randy's question i am now a convert to taking out as much unnecessary bloat as possible. Including bootanimations! I just got my first freeze writing this reply [after 3day of continuous use with no problems] on reset i noticed the boot screen started full size as a picture then flipped to 50% in the centre of the screen with manic pipo animation. Suggestion: take out your logo and add RileyRomvxx.xx in text under the pipo animation so we know what we are loading. I think it is also possible to add to the about tablet info in the build prop file somewhere. One that's done i would suggest another well advertised TESTv3 for us to check for you before [hopefully] going viral keep up the good work at work as well as in the kitchen!! Rgds, colin

i solved also the bootanimation screen lock on/off with power button issue, but now i have a much more important issue to solve... performance.

Even if antutu scores almost 19000 points, the system is extremely low in performance, slow, stuttering and slow motion even in android home screens without any animation... not to talk about games, real racing 3 goes faster on my 5000 point antutu score mobile device...

                          any suggestion?

                            suggestions

Hi Devil, yes I have some suggestions for you - but you need to enlighten us as to how you fixed the problem - we cannot help without detailed information. We suspect it is YOU doing something wrong that is causing the problems - you simply have to be in touch with this thread to notice only a few people are having problems with the hardware - there are hundreds of people watching, but only one or two who are posting! So, here's my suggestion for you....... Start again. work step by step. Delete all older folders from Riley Rom keeping only the one labelled 'Pipo_M9_Pro_RileyROM_1.9test2' - once you have done that flash the standard set of files from this folder - don't change anything yet. Once the tablet is up and running TEST IT. Put ONE game on and see how it works. Come back to us with your results BEFORE doing anything else please and then we can move forward to get you happy. It is of course just possible you have a broken tablet and it has nothing to do with the software running on it! Carrying out this simple step by step procedure should tell us one way or another. - don't forget, we are NOT Pipo's service department we are a group of like minded (I Hope) individuals interested in this tablet and the software that runs on it, so CALM DOWN.....OK?

I'm already at this point, i erased everything also the 32gb memory, deleted all files on pc, redownladed ONLY test2 files and reflashed it partition the system space in 8gb (parameter8 renamed to parameter).

The system was up and running and clean, with no bootanimation problem, no wifi problem, no power button problem and i'm happy.

The problem that is still here and was here before is that performance is poor, i repeat a 5000 point device goes smoother, changing from a screen to another takes seconds, in playstore it hangs for some second changing screen, and in games (installed only real racing 3) i can notice stuttering, it's not smooth, i should post a video to let you understand, i'll do it, cause smoothness sensation is personal, probably it's going at its best but for me is too slow, the stuttiring not fluid not smooth thing is the problem for me... looks too strange for a 19000 points device... after this i installed both antutu and antutu x and both score 18300, so it should't be software or hardware problem... lol

                                You got me then!

Sorry to hear this Devil, but you got me!! The play store thing could easily be an internet problem - I get it all the time over here. Is the game you play internet dependent, or not? if not then turn off Wifi and see if it makes a difference - you could have something running in the background eating up processing power? Could be almost anything really. Have you tried the game on a iPad4? does it do the same? maybe (I am no expert) it is configured for a particular graphics processor?? I have no idea what the Antutu program does for testing (No, please don't explain, I am happily ignorant!) but you are right that doing real things is the real test. Can I suggest you try a different game? just to see if it is similar? - from a different app developer? I don't really play games, so have no suggestions for you - but my daughter likes the TurboFlyHD game that comes with stock - and there is a demo version on the play store - maybe Pipo added this one as they know it works well on their tablet?? What is the game like on stock ROM? same, or worse? maybe you should try stock and let us know?
