I use 1.6b, with my own kernel, and I've had it running for several weeks without a restart. Videos have at most been playing about 8 consecutive hours. My CPU is set to scale to 1608, my RAM is at 667 Mhz and the GPU at 400 iirc.

Mind you I have not tried looping videos endlessly with this setup, but it is stable enough for me.

That basically means set the GPU, CPU and RAM speeds to what my device can handle, and updated a few other things.

I hope kit kat roms will work fine, but I have so far not tested them myself.

What I did last night was purchase a Neo X7. Reviews online support it's stability. If I'm not seeking 1080p support, and my only criteria was a box that plays videos endlessly without crashing does anyone have insight as to what box would be useful to try?

Thus far hardware progression has been Roku (sucked) --> GK 802 (stock ROM too slow) --> MK802 IV (finless1.5 - app malfunctions, still testing but worried about the poor wifi reception, even after antenna fix) --> CX-919 (finless 1.5 - walked in to a black screen and a unresponsive device)

    Thank you,

I've been testing it for the last two days, it's been working fine, but then this morning I woke up to check on it and it was frozen on a black screen, unresponsive to mouse clicks.

It has a 2100mA Power Supply (out of the box).

Is there anything I can do to insure that the device doesn't freeze in the future?

I wish I had more time to dedicate to this hobby. Learning more about this stuff would be fun and contributing more would be rewarding.

To remove the search bar you need to know how to take apart an APK and recompile it. You remove it by editing .smali code in the launcher.apk

I know that this does not directly answer your question but I am using a Logitech C270 and it works pretty well. I needed to power cycle after plugging it in to get it to work. If you don't already own the lifecam, this may be an option for you. If you do own the lifecam, you could always just plug it in and power cycle to try it out.

    Remove Search Bar

    Hi All,

Has anyone been able to remove the search bar from the top of the home page? I am hoping to not need to install a new launcher as the stock one works well except for the search bar. Installing a new launcher is a bummer because every time it gets an update, you need to set it as default launcher again. I know that I am being picky but I'm hoping that someone who understands how to do this mod has already done it. I've seen posts about editing xml files in the framework directory but I've also seen caution statements that get scary.

    Thank You...Brad
