Buttons appear to die at reboot

Ok..I can confirm that for ME on my PMID701C I lose the functionality of the back/return and menu buttons at reboot. When I flash the 701C ICS rom everything works fine.

When I power down and later reboot the buttons no longer work. At that point the only way I get the buttons to work again is to reflash. Of course there isn't much point because the buttons won't work as soon as I power down.

Those of you that have confirmed your buttons are working, could you reboot for me today and see if your buttons still work?

Don't get me wrong...I'm not bitching. I just wanted to point out this potential bug and let anyone know that it MAY be an issue for them if they decide to upgrade their 701 to ICS with this rom.

So far that's the only problem I've seen. If you don't use the hard buttons it probably isn't an issue. Hopefully it is something that can be easily fixed. Not the end of the world but I guess I use the hard buttons more than I thought!

I have the same issue. The rom works perfectly other wise.
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

I am aware of this issue, for now go into /system/usr/keylayout and replace sun4i-keyboard.kl with this one.sun4i.zip It's a zip so extract it and grab the file.

These numbers are the numbers that identify the hardware location of the buttons.

I'll update the rom soon. Sorry guys.

EDIT: This rom may work I have not have time to check, I believe it was a dump off my tablet when I fixed the keys. http://uploading.com/files/ae7f3aaf/701C_ICS.img/
It will take 30 mins to upload be patient.

This worked thanks shawn. Had to shut down and retart after overwriting the file.

I'm using a 701c tablet and one other thing I've noticed about both the stock 701c and 701i roms is that location services don't seem to work (yes, I did enable it in both operating systems). Now, I know the 701c doesn't have an actual GPS radio but even network-based location isn't working. And some Android market apps that used to be available to the 701c, like WeatherBug and some TV Guide apps aren't being offered when I log in to Google Play using the 701i update. I assume it's because these apps use location based services.

Are those services just not enabled in either ROM or is there something about the the 701c's WiFi hardware that doesn't allow them?

I have been trying to figure locartion services out for some time. It does not work on many cheap tablets out there. I got it working for Google apps like maps, latitude, etc but non-google apps just will not work. I have tried dozens of versions of networkloaction.apk, locationservices, editing the google resource DB, etc.

I have pretty much given up trying to get it working as it appears I am missing some component or the kernel itself needs something.

Actually, location services is working just fine on my 701i using the 701c stock firmware. I'm almost positive it worked on the Onda firmware as well...

Did you try other apps other than say google maps etc? Like a non-google weather app or something?

Definitely no need to apologize. I just wasn't sure if it was something you were aware of. I also wanted to let others know in case the issue was a deal breaker for them until it was fixed. Anyone who decides to flash any of these images should have enough common sense to know they do it at their own peril. Thanks for the hard work and the quick fix shawn!

                      location services

Note: With my market fix, it includes a fix for network location, appears to be fine with none google apps!

                      Test Please

I haven't experienced that problem - so every time it comes out of sleep you need to re-connect manually??

not every time, but almost every time, and its worse than just having to reconnect....it only shows in the list any networks you've connected to before, and shows them all out of range, and if you go to try to turn wifi off, it changes to "turning wifi off" and just hangs there...to get wifi back the whole thing has to be rebooted...i've seen other people on here post about it happening to them as well.
