Now, I know the 701c doesn't have an actual GPS radio but even network-based location isn't working. And some Android market apps that used to be available to the 701c, like WeatherBug and some TV Guide apps aren't being offered when I log in to Google Play using the 701i update. I assume it's because these apps use location based services.
Are those services just not enabled in either ROM or is there something about the the 701c's WiFi hardware that doesn't allow them?
I speak from a perspective of ignorance, but without having a GPS or a cellular radio inside the tablet, I wouldn't think location services would work for us. I appear to have been proven wrong. That's OK. It happens from time to time...
You'd be surprised at some of the places my Verizon Internet access says I am whilst I sit in Charlotte, NC!

Actually, location services is working just fine on my Polaroid 701i, using the "stock" ROM that shawn built. I've tested it in both Maps and WeatherBug Elite. It works via wifi access points - it used known access points and triangulates, I believe. It's actually very accurate though.... Try it....
I must say, this $99 tablet now puts my Nextbook 7 Premium to shame (and I paid $129 for that)! THis is a really nice little tablet now!Last edited by jtrosky; 29 April 2012, 21:48.

EDIT: Never mind- you said recovery mode, not flash mode...

Try the other buttons. Same thing. Set up live suite (be sure to watch the video) turn off the tablet (that means all the way off not just standby, even if you have to hold the button 20-30 seconds to get it to do it, then hit the button (middle is shown in documentation, but on mine all 3 will do it), plug in the USB cable and wait for it to ding a couple times then the popup should show.

I have a 64bit system. I've tried both versions of live suite. When I turn the tab off, hold the button, and plug in, it doesn't make the sound as if USB was connected, at least not until it passes the "internet tablet" splash screen and is well thru the boot screen where it shows the android guy looking like an ice cream sandwich. At that point, it doesn't show up as adb device as it should, but rather mass storage device.

Are you powering it on or is it being powered on automatically when you connect it to the PC?

No asking for drivers or telling me there's a problem, just nothing. So I've tried holding the button, plugging in, then pressing the power button, and that yields the results I mentioned earlier.

Also, make sure you have USB Debugging enabled in the Android setup up. If that's already set, then I'm out of ideas!

Check this out: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ts-A13-Chipset
I just added some new pics to it... Looks like the PMID701i that I have has the allwinner a13 chip instead of the a10. So....different hardware entirely!Polaroid PMID701i 13
