    701i rom screen problem

I managed to screw up my 701i and I had to reflash the rom. I used the "stock 701i rom" and when I tilt the screen, it rotates backwards. I tried to reflash several times and the problem is still there. The only way I can use the tablet is to set it on a flat surface.

I flashed the 701c ICS rom onto my 701i and the problem is gone. I am wondering if this is common. Also, is there a problem running the 701c rom on my 701i? Are they basically the same rom?

I flashed over to the bloatware free gingerbread from the ics on my pmid701c and the difference in performance was noticably better right away. It stopped running hot, puts less drain on the battery, and isnt nearly as bogged down.

Probably Shawn's ROM! :-) Awful coincidental!

Nothing for the 701i yet though...

Also, it says that Android 4.0 does not support the TV-out on their tablets. Did anyone get TV-out working with ICS? I've never tried it, personally....

They say that if you upgrade your 701c that you will lose TV-out functionality!

I think I have a few of those cables around somewhere - let me go test it and see what happen - be back in a few....

Well I have a i with TV out and it works last time I tried it and of course it's factory ICS. The cable from my WDTV live media player for it's Component out jack work fine with my unit so if any of you also have a Live media player you have a cable that will work. You will have to play with the colors till you get it right as they aren't the same as it looks like but mix em up and eventually you'll find the right combo. A few users have listed the combo that works but I'm not using it for TV now so don't remember what worked.

one of the things that we think was taking southern telecom so long with their rons was that there seem to be at least 3 different hardware configurations out there and one of the more noticeable differences between them is that the screen rotation is backward. the ultimate fix for now anyway is to download and install the other firmware.

I have a problem, I tried to flash the New ICS rom(shawns Not ST's stolen rom) into my 701c, I never got second beep from holding menu and plugging in. I thought"maybe debugging is off" so I powered up device, booted normal but apps were missing, no biggie nothing there I could do without, its a testing and "playing" device. I said WTF, reset to factory and powered down. Fired up Livesuit, picked debloated rom and held menu and plugged cable in, first usb connection sound, driver installed NO Beeps from livesuite....What am I doing wrong or is my device just unupgradeable. I am using Win 7 64bit. Should I try it on a virtual xp machine or what? Is there a way to wipe all usb type drivers for these devices and make sure theres no conflicting drivers?

                      that can happen

live suite is not the best at unloading from memory after it is done. that is why i showed opening up task manager and stopping the livesuite process. sometimes it does wierd things if you dont open it up fresh to flash. check out the link in the onda firmwares thread for my youtube video on flashing.

Got off the xp machine and another dl of liveduite with 64 bit drivers and flashed fine.

I also installed limez script and now netflix works fine.

                          question about roms

Would love to see a bloatware free rom 4.03 with limez script already cooked in. Very curious to try those bluetooth drivers with the tiny bluetooth pc ones

FYI - I did check and it's definitely different than Shawns ROM. Shawn 701c ROM is 595MB - the ST 701c ROM is only 240MB - that's a huge difference in size - anyone know why their image would be so much smaller?

I was curious whether the "Official" Polaroid ICS ROM upgrade for the 701C would run Netflix any better. I flashed Polaroid upgrade, downloaded amazon appstore and installed Netflix. It runs pretty poorly. Very choppy for me at times and when it is streaming video that isn't choppy the audio and video are very out of sync.

I didn't expect it to to be any different, but tried just in case. They definitely didn't sneak any secret Netflix fixes into that smaller file I can tell you that!

I am not sure which rom caused this but device is working so I'll share, First thing I'll point out for Win7 64 bit users, Make sure you do not have multiple driver/devices hidden and stored on PC. Each time you plug in a device to a different port it reloads drivers. so I had multiple drivers and unconnected devices to remove. As soon as that was done Livesuite worked like a champ. I tried limez script on a stock out of the box config. and it got stuck in an app. closing loop. So I flashed it to 701c_ICS worked great. after about 10 min of playing around checking apps and entering google and amazon info, screen went nuts flickering, going through reds and yellows total seizure type flashing. I shut it Hard booted it and it came back up slow and barely responsive. Shut it back down and threw the "ST 701c 4.0 rom into it. I now have an 701i with a wacky internal partition that allows for more room in downloads and less in memory...Hmmm. Limez script worked perfectly with no issues on this flash. The only bug I've found at this moment is the Status option under setting/device stops settings from working. Will have more as I find more.
