Nothing is being reported as battery use for 3G.

This is awesome for me as a wifi only tablet M9 Pro!

FYI it appears the boost in wifi power I added to my ROM has not hurt battery performance in any measurable way...... Yet for me, wifi is much better!

    Bob

Busy testing and my wifi is outstanding! (3G Tablet) Antutu is up and everything appears to run quicker.
Right!!!! Now what about doing a repeat performance for Pipo M8 Pro 3G. Really needs a wifi boost badly.
    Many thanks. Regards

      SU / Superuser

Hey, is this Rom using Superuser (ChainsDD) or SuperSU (Chainfire).
I have better all around compatibility with SuperSU (plus I donated)
      Superuser, not so much ....
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

          Great job Finless!
would it be safe to use the perl script to modify the frequencies are we were doing with Riley Rom´s? Looks that the kernel is the same but just want to be sure and avoid bricking my pipo or anybody´s else...

Best and thank for your hard work!

For me, it did not automatically install cwm recovery as part of the default flash as happened with RR2.1. There also isn't a ClockworkTemplate directory in case that is how you were installing RileyROMs. Since RR2.1 did do cwm recovery, if you did use it to make a full backup (like to external_sd), you can extract recovery.img from that .zip file and just flash that single item in the Finless flash tool to "install cwm recovery". That's what I did to get cwm recovery after flashing 1.4.

                10) I did some wifi tuning. Power is increased and for me this makes wifi work better! However, it may cause slightly more battery drain but I have not noticed it.
If you want to edit it back, I can tell you how using ES File Explorer.
Could you pls explain about wifi tuning/edit back?
                Thx.

                  Trying

i downloaded it now, thanks a lot for new link guys!

Does anyone have the same problem with me or am i mistaken, is this tablet suited for games?
I now have 2.1 riley rom, but real racing 3 stutters, fps shooters also, i think the tablet is not stable..

What is normal? How do you guys find the pipo M9 pro about gaming speed?

even when i close apps i found a lot of delay in sliding the tasks out.....beats me...

                    I didn't make a NANDroid backup for 2.1

Can you post it? Or... if i flash the cwmrecovery.img from RR2.0 do you think will it break?

                    Thanks

I have a total of about 90 days experience with ANY form of Android stuff, so you might want to wait for people that know what they are doing to comment about it being a good / bad idea to take a .zip from someone you don't know (and doesn't know that much himself). BUT,

that's a 2MB .zip of recovery.img that I used (lots of compression from the 32MB size):
                      Directory of F:\PIPO\Finless_Pipo_M9Pro_14ROM

                      12/04/2013 12:39 AM 33,554,432 recovery.img

I just double checked the URL and it just displays the 32MB file. I guess you have to select File: Download to get the compressed .zip?

I went from RR2.1 to FR1.4 without erase IDB as both were setup with 4GB parameters. I then went to stock flash to test wallpaper on 2nd user and did erase IDB when I knew things were different.

I did have cwm recovery on earlier RR, but I don't have URLs handy for the steps to get there. I had to install something that got me a choice of RK3188 and that downloaded the right recovery. That would be a safer route than just using "mine", but not as easy. I tried using Randy's since I "knew" I could just re-flash what came in FinlessROM directory. "knew" is clearly too strong a word here!!

The only thing I've managed to "break" is the touch pad material underneath the top glass. I think I've got enough to recover from most anything that I do wrong. But I've jinxed myself by typing that.

I wish I had some good news on this one, but unfortunately, CWM NAND backups are only for the current ROM you have in place...in case you need to restore the exact same ROM again.

If you restore a CWM backup on a different ROM, you risk mixing files between both ROM's which can cause problems with the system operating correctly...strange things can start happening on your tablet.

The best way to transfer apps and data between ROM flashes is with Titanium Backup/Restore. Of coarse, you have to be rooted to begin using Titanium in the first place.

I keep a Titanium backup on my external SD and restore it after each flash and it takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to get my tablets back to normal use.

I am glad you folks are seeing wifi improvement! That makes me feel good so that I was not seeing it only because I made the change
Sometimes you see things you "want to see"

So I know my wifi tweaks work then

For now, I will keep them to myself please. Well.... I will tell them to Randy to help other Pipo Tablets but..... YOU HAVE TO KNOW the wifi chip to do this. It may not work on all hardware!!!! It did for this wifi chipset on the M9 Pro....

Randy, for other pipo tablets I will need a dmesg dump to determine how to apply the patches. Lets talk offline. Users of tablets you do not have I will need a dmesg dump to help.

FYI day 3 of my tablet being in sleep and when I woke it up today 96% battery!

But is recovery.img itself unique to each ROM? I only reflashed recovery over the installed FR1.4 so that I could make a full backup of the tablet with FR1.4 installed. I'm not trying to restore stuff from one backup set when another is currently flashed - just replace stock recovery with cwmrecovery (that resulted from RR2.1 after the 1st recovery that formatted stuff).

I zip up the backups and save them externally, thinking it would be a quick way to get back to something, regardless of what I have currently on the tablet. Am I on the edge of something here?

The easiest and fastest way of installing CWM is by using the ArcTools package.
See the link below. Follow the instructions in the YouTube video. It's a 3 minute process.

And yes I used this method to install it on Finless v1.4
