    tun.ko module

Hey Bob, I am a convert from Randy - following his recommendation of course! Thanks for your quick work on your new ROM - for me all is good except multi user and VPN. I have officially given up on multiuser for the moment as I find it unusable with the wallpaper broken, but more seriously the lag I get when activating makes the tablet unusable in second user mode. It was OK with Riley ROM 2.0 test but has not worked since - but is the same in Pipo stock ROM (with the build prop edited) and so I suspect something PIPO has done has broken it.
My main problem now is the Open VPN requirement t have a tun.ko module installed. I have been using an installer, but have found that I need to reinstall the module after every reboot. Randy did install permanently somehow, so I would really appreciate it if you were able to do the same - especially as I suspect it is a different module now you are spoofing the Galaxy s3 (which is brilliant for me as I am now able to download BBC programs -- with the VPN on of course!) Thanks again for all your good work. Colin.
ps - I have a 3G model and suffer from the 1-2% per hour battery drain even though all is turned of and I have no SIM installed.

Randy loaded the module in boot.img

To get it working , you need this file (here) , put it in /system/etc/init.d
Set 777 permissions and tun.ko will be loaded at boot time.

the code in the file named 92tun is :

      Code:
      #!/system/bin/sh
      insmod /system/lib/modules/tun.ko
      insmod /system/lib/modules/tcp_veno.ko
      echo veno > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_congestion_control
      setprop net.dns1 8.8.4.4

hi there. im new to the forum. i initially used riley rom 2.1. but felt it was a little sluggish. saw that this rom had good reviews. i came over. i managed to get the rom flashed. however, i have been stuck on the boot screen. i cant seem to power off nor can i seem to get it back into recovery mode.

the boot screen just shows freaktab.com a finless bob rom v1.4 with pipo screen at the back. any ideas guys?

edit: i got it up! i totally forgot about the reset button!

          3G Battery eater

          Hi Bob!

Thank you very much for your M9 Pro Rom.
I am new with the forum, but i have read a lot of things.
          I own a Pipo M9 Pro 3G and i cooked your Rom.
The problem is battery drain. I am losing almost 25 % of battery in just one night.
With Betterbattery stats i see that the problem is nodata service witch is a very battery eater service.
But i have no 3G card inside and the modem is not running, but the problem is the same.
We have to find something like - screen off nodata service off- or something else to tell Pipo not to eat battery with nodata service if it sleeps, i guess!
If you solve this in a next Rom we will be very greatfull.

            two ways:
            - ril-rk29-dataonly is coming back....(only for 3G version)
            Move
ril-rk29-dataonly from / system / lib / to your SD card. Reboot. You don't have 3G service but you win the "Deep sleep".
            If you need 3G, move
ril-rk29-dataonly from your SD card to / system / lib. Reboot and you will have 3G service.

I have the 3G version. I moved the ril29rk dataonly and I loose only 2% battery from 22h yesterday night to 10h this morning. 2% in 12 hours is perfect.

            or
            - Replace original ril-rk29-dataonly with one from attached archive and you'll have no problem with deep sleep without reboot or moving files.
I've not tried it yet but all who did confirmed working, just takes a bit longer to start 3G
            modem.

            IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY!!!!!!!

            Thank you so much!!!!!!

The only very very little problem is that as soon as the screen goes off the 3G automatically is swithched off. But it is so much important to have deep sleep working that this is absolutely not important!!!!

                ro.rk.multi_window=false

Hey All, the suggestion from SS900 , to help stop the evil multi window feature from rearing its ugly head ( basically it keeps turning itself on) did not work. The suggestion was to ADD a line in the build.prop : ro.rk.multi_window=false , unfortunately this did not work. It is still enabling itself.
It is truly annoying! The work around is toggle in on, then off.
Any suggestions or comments with be very much appreciated!
Note ; this mainly occurs on startup or a reboot, if that is a help..

Finless had two great options for the 1.4 ROM, first default is for WIFI, you must change to drop down to 3G - id you do that?

Working on a new ROM based on the new one Pipo just release with quickboot.

I will add tun.ko. Odd most 3188 kernels these days have that built in but I guess Pipo did not. I will add it for you guys. Do you also need md4.ko as well?

For you 3G guys that dont use 3G. Use my wifi boot.img not the 3g boot.img. It should kill all 3G battery loss.

                        Hy,

Is it possible to make it A M9pro again? I have several apps who are complaining that they might have trouble running on a Samsung.

On my M8pro with Riley 2.1 there are no problems with the same apps.

                        Thanks in advance.

I use a VPN app called Private Internet Access

I think the underlying code is based off of OpenVNC. Although I'm not certain.
With all the custom Pipo M9 ROM's I have tested, none been able to make a connection. The app gets to authentication and then dies. My searches turned up a few others having the same issue and the answer has always been enable tun.ko
See the first post on May 2

With all that said I have been playing around with getting tun.ko installed using tun.ko installer from Play. And I have tried the earlier suggestion, post 77 in this thread, about placing a file named 92tun in the /system/etc/init.d directory. I still unable to get it to connect.

There is still some type of dependency missing from this rom that is keeping my VPN app from from connecting. I guess I also may have not installed the 92tun file correctly but I think I got it right.

If you think the md4.ko could possibly have some positive results with using VPN's, then yes please include it.

                            Thanks for the rom work.

You can do that yourself by a simple edit to the build.prop file.

Nice Rom Bob.. I myself use airplanemode with 3G when I don 't need it. When needed, i simply start 3G by turning off airplane mode..
