ROM works great. However.. Your OC 1080p kernels give me poor play back in xbmc like stuttering no h/w acceleration but my xbmc version has h/w. 720p HD works fine with your justxbmc just the 1080p kernels. Android UI is a little laggy v 720p when using the 1080p_cpu1.7_gpu798h_ddr720 kernel

None if the kernels at 1,8ghz work for me. Box gets stuck on boot logo

Xbmc crashes on 720p&1080p playback using 1.7,OC kernel.

Also if I use the switch resolution option in advanced settings I lose my 1.7ghz OC and it defaults back to 1080p @,1.6ghz

    Appreciate your work
The poor 1080p playback is isolated to XBMC, rather than the kernel or ROM, since MXPlayer plays 1080p perfectly.

It would appear more development is needed in XBMC to perfect 1080p playback on Android.

I would recommend either using a 720p kernel for higher frame frames or using MXPlayer for 1080p contents.

I can agree the 1080 p Kernel runs like a dog , even with the 1.8 Ghz OC . However Make sure you are using the XBMC version 13 + , anything before 13 I dont think will work well on this device

I have not tried the 720 p kernel , I assume it would improve performance , which is more important imo .

Thanks for the reply. How do I setup so MX Player is used for 1080p only? I would like default player for 720p/SD.
The non OC 1080p works fine for 720p/HD content but struggles the same as 1080p OC kernels when playing 1080p in xbmc

Personally, I launch MXPlayer outside XBMC contents until 1080p playback is resolved within XBMC.

I recall reading a mod on this forum to launch MXPlayer from within XBMC.

I have tried JustXbmc (using now) Beyond Xbmc and SPMC. All work great for 720p just no 1080p. The stock 720p kernel from lewy works great. So does the stock 1080p. Just not for 1080p playback.

There's no issues with 1080p playback on 720p kernels since XBMC is running in 720p mode only.

Hey, Watching 1080p content from xbmc is what am hoping to get. I use MX for my 1080p files from USB drive no problem. So it is powerful enough to run them.
I think you edit the advancedsettings.XML?

While not ideal, MXPlayer is our best alternative until 1080p playback is resolved in XBMC, using your preferred method.

Are you using the TR42 2.0 Box ? WOuld you agree the 720 p kernel is better performance wise ?

I just dont want to reflash kernel if there is no difference

                    I am running the 1.8 1080p Kernel on my TR42 2.0 box

The frame rate of a 720p kernel will always be greater than a 1080p kernel, due to the limited processing power of the GPU, with hardware acceleration.

When playing back video media, the frame rate is a reflection of the GPU and RAM bandwidth, rather than the CPU.

This is due to hardware decoding offloads the calculation to the GPU rather than software decoding within the CPU.

To allow cool operation of the RK3188, 1.6Ghz CPU and 800Mhz GPU with DDR800 RAM is sufficient for smooth 1080p playback in MXPlayer.

With this configuration, the GPU hardware acceleration benefits from the increased RAM bandwidth and GPU clock speed.

Yes much better. B351 v2.0 T-R42 is my device.

What the GPU/Ram speeds of that 1.8ghz kernel? None of the 1.8g-z would boot for me.

Can I use the PJ Anderson overclock tool to edit the 1.6ghz kernel to those speeds? Would the Ram/GPU be okay that high?

Currently using the 1080p_cpu1.7_gpu798h_ddr720 kernel. Only get choice of stock GPU and 798mhz.. 700mhz GPU should be a safe level?

Both the CPU and GPU clock speeds are dynamic based upon load.

The manufactures rating of the RAM is DDR800 with higher timings / more latency but the builders of this box under clock the RAM with lower timings / less latency because the cheap system RAM is shared by the GPU.

The RAM in my set top boxes are over clocked to DDR800 / 1600 MHz with lower timing / latency without any issues while running for many hours every evening.

PJ Anderson overclock tool can be used with the stock kernel to make the custom kernels.

                                1080p success

A fresh flash & set up of Lewy's T-R42 2.0 ROM and kernel 1080p_cpu1.7_gpu798h_ddr720. I am using a Minix version of XBMC and 1080p streaming works I tried the stock 1080p kernek and playback was okay but did struggle at times.
The 1080p_cpu1.7_gpu798h_ddr720 kernel works great with no noticable stuttering or slow downs.
I tried to flash the 1.8Ghz kernels and same as before, my box would not boot. I'm guessing this could be a power problem with this cheap adapter plug i got with the box. Im going to find a replacement and use that for a stronger power source.

Appreciate your hard work Lewy This wasn't possible on stock ROM.

**:When I switch resolution in the advanced settings I lose my over clock when I switch back to 1080p.. The update option in advanced settings, is this for kernel flashing? If so where do I place kernel? Thanks
