    Clarification on Recovery

Man I sure hope there is an English recovery available. I don't like this at all.

Wasn't sure if it was because of Windows 8 or not, I know there are different directions for 7 vs 8 and different download maybe?
That I can't tell you for sure as I have only used them on Win 7 x64. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work with Win 8 though, some apps don't seem to play nice on it as opposed to Win 7. If you can get your hands on a Win 7 x64 machine you should have no problems. I used those files on 2 different computers, both running Win 7 x64, and everything worked flawlessly.

Edit* Apparently you are not alone having issues doing the firmware upgrade when using a Win 8 machine, and a great tutorial on how to get it to work was posted at http://nextbook7.blogspot.com/2014/1...qc16g-usb.html however I still recommend using a Win 7 machine as it appears some people are still having issues getting the drivers to install.

Thank you. I'll find a Windows 7 machine and try again. HATE Windows 8 so much...

Tablet sounds good, how well does GPS and Bluetooth work on this tablet? Is cwm available? Is bootloader unlocked?

So has anyone got any leads on a custom recovery? I applied the update waiting to root until I can make a back up. Any help would be appreciated

These guys have successfully got cmw working on an rca tablet with the same board! So I'm optimistic that we could be next..

I think I've got TWRP working on my RCA with MT8127, but I haven't worked on it in awhile... was in the middle of testing it and trying to compile a custom ROM from source.

Rooting should be easy using either Kingo Root (Pre KitKat) or vRoot or iRoot (KitKat and possibly Lollipop).

The RCA tablet is almost the same as my DL701Q, both use ubifs filesytem. My recovery is here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...mware-t3046756 Neither recovery will work on Nextbook as is, cause Nextbook uses ext4, (well my recovery might cause it's a dual recovery, requires adb commands to switch to ext4 recovery, not recommended) You guys need to just port or build a ext4 recovery, not that hard, much easier than ubifs filesystems.
If I had the tablet I would build a recovery for it, but I don't work on devices I don't have.

After you all get your custom recovery you use recovery to flash http://download.chainfire.eu/696/Sup...erSU-v2.46.zip which will provide root.

My RCA uses EXT4 on EMMC...

UBIFS is a pain to mess with. UBIFS probably also means MTD NAND instead of EMMC. UBIFS is most often used because MTD NAND doesn't support EXT4 (without custom kernel drivers like RockChip uses).
