      Dear Friend,

The KitKat firmware on our website for U8 is a tested one and there are a lot of problems with it.

Please don't use the 4.4 firmware.

      Best regards,

By "success" you mean what? XBMC runs fine on U8 (and on much inferior h/w for that matter). I am currently streaming media from my Win7/MySQL media server.
Only one issue: When output is to my TV via hdmi, the picture is upside down. No matter how I rotate my U8 I end-up with upside down picture.

so, which NON-kitkat firmware is most stabile for U8? i founded 1.5 under "archived pipo firmwares" section, as 1.6 is already marked as "kitkat". so, 1.5?

              1.5 is the last Jellybean.

I think 1.9 is pretty stable on my tablet.

yes, i can see that 1.9 is latest. but what about that e-imail what patos32etgot from pipo - "do not use kitkat yet"?

now i'm even more confused, and as they put to market S6. (almost) same thing, and for non-demanding users, imho, just enough. but, still no customization.

Pipo is just covering their bottoms. Its easier to discourage people from using the KitKat than it is to support the discrepancies.

I tend to agree that you need to know what you are doing when you experiment with beta firmware. You just have to know and accept the fact that some things simply don't work with their KitKat firmware.

They are overstating the negative aspects to scare off the nubbie's. So they won't have to answer the same questions over and over again.

In the Pipo forums, I've tried to educate people about the necessary precautions to take. And I've tried to explain what works and what doesn't.

You just have to understand the risks and accept the compromises.

This KitKat ROM is an improvement, in my opinion.

On a side note, I tried the new ART instead of Dalvik (Options->Development->Runtime Library (or alike)). I do see improved loading times (couldn't test battery life yet). As a drawback, I could also see some spontaneous lags while playing, nothing serious.
I even tried to run antutu while being on ART and though it successfully completes all tests, it won't get to display the score and keeps saying "loading...".

(PS: First boot on ART took a really long time!)

I think that others have reported that Antutu isn't compatible with ART.

so, beter safe than sorry! ok, let's say that that is their "disclaimer".

and, about kitkat - i hope that it will be even better until my tablet arrive.

                        thank you!

                            hello everyone!
I am aiming to buy this tab and i have some question about it:
regard pipo U8 and U6 OTG, can you use a usb hub with mouse and keyboard?
both on stock and Riley's ROM?
If i use a powered hub, will it charge at same time?

thanks you Riley and all "opensourcer's"

can anyone how as a powered hub try?
sometimes i whould like to use the tab connected to tv/monitor using mouse and keyboard as a backup computer and its a pain if you cannot use it while changing.
I was also considering de pipo M7 Pro a little bigger and "pricier"..
a little offopic: M7 Pro can charge thou Usb and DC jack?
