Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 2.5 KitKat

FINALLY, KITKAT HAS COME TO THE M7 PRO!!!!!!!!!!!

This ROM is based on an official update posted by Pipo dated 1/08/14. This is beta release that was shared by a beta tester. Here is the link to the stock version: Download

I've tested this ROM on my M7 Pro to confirm that it does boot, and wifi works. I was able to connect to Google Play Store and download apps. I haven't played any graphic intensive games, so I haven't taxed the system to cause a crash.

If you are flashing a KitKat for the very first time...YOU MUST LEAVE THE LOADER CHECKED in the flash tool.

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE FLASHING A KITKAT ROM ON YOUR M7 Pro...READ THIS THREAD!!!!!!!

Just beware that I was a little frustrated when I wrote that thread...so the tone is a little jaded...but the information is very important. Plus, if you do end up bricking your tablet, there is a solution in post #2.

    As usual this ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d Support
    Busybox Support
    English Default
2, 4, 6, 8, or 12gb user app space by changing parameter files
Multiple ko modules for VPN and other networking support added
    Boot Animation by Tattman65
    Reboot app by Petrus
    Updated First Time User's Guide
Rockchip driver installer app is now included in the kit

    Download

For Deep Sleep users, I've made a version that includes the patched libril file.

    v2.5.1

Here are 3 kernels with overclocked RAM only. One with underclocked CPU:

what's the purpose or benefit of underclocking the cpu to 1400 and overclocking the ram to 800?

some tablets are really unlucky with CPU and can not run smoothly even on 1608 MHz

            Stock kitkat kernel Antutu:
            1st - 20531
            2nd - 20545
            3rd - 20591

Amazing! I've never got 20K+ results on a stock JB kernel before.

yeah its really great and without getting the result with antutu youll feel that it reads, write and load fast, but just for me I just wish that all games could work without issues but in terms of its speed and performance it is perfect its just I use my m7 pro for games since my kid uses it also.

I will try to flash this as soon as possible!!!
Have anyone tried miracast with m7pro? Is there any dongle that you would recommend? It would be perfect for me to be able to mirror the screen to my tv to be able to play emulators on a bigger screen.

Randy, I dont know what have you done with this beta version of kitkat but all games as of now which always have the reboots have gone(finger cross). Well Im still testing throughout the games if it was really gone(reboots). The stock beta of kitkat still have reboots. Thanks Randy for this ROM

You're lucky. AnTuTu scores I've said yesterday were for 'stock' version. However, I'm unable to root 4.4 as I did with 4.2, just pushing su binary where it should be and adjusting permissions. SuperSU complains about Android version and inability to handle su binary.
I've flashed Riley ROM then. And for some unknown reason got sluggish system, ran AnTuTu and got as much as 16200 Thinking I've done something wrong, erased IDB once again, flashed ROM, run AnTuTu and got 15700 this time. Flash back stock KitKat and performance is back. Have no idea, what's going on.
                    However,
                    1) This beta version has no reboot option, rebooter.apk helps but I would prefer reboot option in bare untouched system as it was before
                    2) GPS is kinda completely missing, most likely Pipo guys used drivers for another chip without GPS. I assume in WiFi/BT part all the drivers are the same compatible with RK903/Broadcom 4330
                    3) THERE IS NO DEEP SLEEP at all!!! Even in flight mode the same story with ril-rk29-dataonly came back.

Other bugs posted on pipo BBS and re-posted here by manao not noticed.

No random reboots yet since I flashed. I usually erase idb twice before flashing, no point but still i do it. I got consistent 21K+ after using the ram only oc kernel and consistent 20.5K+ on stock kernel, didn't change governor on those tests.

Titanium backup worked great. No GPS function and multi-window. Wifi is just as strong as before. Can't set auto brightness. Skype survived a 10min video call without FCing.

Can't mount internal and external sd in CWM

9 hours of what supposed to be sleep/stand by -47% of battery. During this time screen turned on only to check battery level. Better battery stats reporting screen has never been turned off during this time. WTF???

                          Gamexland, just do following:
                          reset with tootthpick.
connect to PC via USB 2
                          Satrt flashing software
Press Esc and then Power button and hold them together until software detects tablet in bootloader mode.
                          Flash ROM.
It's more easy to do with RKBatchTool and stock firmware. For me at least.

When your tablet is connected to your PC press and hold power + esc. That will boot your tablet to flash mode. But reset first!
