no driver error?
First, I'd like to say that I'm brand new to Android and just received this Next7S tablet as a gift. I had no idea the Google Play store was so restricted! I figured they would sell a .apk to anyone paying! Anyways, after searching for a solution I was about to take a 12 gauge to this thing until I finally found your thread with people reporting succesful Google Play app usage. THANK YOU!!
Unfortunately I'm having a bit of a problem. In the readme it says I need to install the drivers first, so I tried that. It states that the device shouldn't be recognized after holding down the volume buttons and hitting the reset button. My problem is that after the device reboots it's still recognized by Windows 7 (64 bit). Since I don't have the "unrecognized device" in device manager I can't upgrade to the drivers included in your download (or atleast I don't know what to update or how, I tried updating the "Next7S" device but it said Windows determined the drivers to already be the most updated).
Since I can't install the drivers the RKAndroid tool continues to report "No Found RKAndroid rock usb"
Any help? And again, thanks for your hard work on this!

Is anyone having problems with getting Google Play to connect? I tried opening Google Play today and it says "Unable to connect" and has a retry button with a click and it won't connect. I checked my wifi and works fine as I can surf the web on my dolphin browser and use Tapatalk with no problem. I figured my account was bad so I went to Settings > Accounts and Sync and deleted my gmail account and tried to add it. When I try to add it I get a "Couldn't sign in. Can't establish a reliable connection to the server..." So I go to Titanium Backup to check Google Play and it shows it has been updated. (It showed a different version then 3.7.13 but I already reverted back and forgot the version number). I reverted back to 3.7.13 but the problem persists. Does anyone have any ideas? Could Google Play update break Google Play?
UPDATE:
I think I figured out the problem and how to resolve it. Again Google Play refused to connect today and it had been without power for a couple days. So I noticed that the time was set to 2011 and thought to myself "I know microsoft flips out when one tries to update windows updates and the clock is not set right." So I went in and changed the time to the correct date and tried Google Play again. I then get a "Google has to authenticate..." and then BAM Google Play connects again. So I think this problem is related to the time. And whats rediculous is that whenever my NextBook 7S Premium drains all its power and turns off I not only have to recalibrate when I boot it up but my time is reset and I have to go in and change it back. One would think there would be like a CMOS battery in there that keeps all these settings up-to-date but nooooo...rediculous.Last edited by FreakAZoid; 08 August 2012, 22:09.

Originally posted by FreakAZoid View PostInteresting. Well I decided to test a theory of mine for testing purposes and which goes against my logic and freeze the calibration system file using System Tuner Pro. My theory was that the calibrations are already saved and there is no reason to have to re-calibrate just because of an improper shutdown. It would be as if Windows was improperly shutdown that I would have to reconfigure my background. This information should be saved in a config file somewhere and that the being forced to have to re-calibrate after an improper shutdown is pointless. So I tested my theory.
I first reset my tablet with the pinhole BEFORE freezing calibration. Turned my tablet back on and was presented with calibration. Second time I FROZE calibration, reset with pinhole and turned the tablet on. After that weird things happened. First all my touches were mirrored. Luckily I had "show pointer" on in settings so I knew where my pointer was actually registering on the screen and they were not where I was touching. Then the bootloader image appeared for a couple seconds like it was rebooting but it didn't which was odd. I was able to eventually boil calibration, reboot and everything was back to normal with the lovely calibration screen.
So apparently the calibration config file gets deleted, reset or whatever when the tablet gets improperly shutdown. So bottom line just don't mess with the calibration. Yeah its stupid but it beats the alternative.

Wow, thanks! Flashing was a breeze and everything seems to be working well. I honestly didn't expect to find a ROM for this device, but I'm glad I kept searching.
Now I just have to figure out how to get some apps to recognize this as a tablet and get Google Play to let me install more apps.

CWM For Next7S

I just need to pull apart recovery and convert it to CWM. I am working on a big project right now but keep bugging me this week and if I solve one of my current ROM problems I will make you a CWM.
Bug me Thursday about it to remind me.
FYI, ROM manager wont work until I mod recovery.
