I flashed this for my mom the first day i bought her this tablet and just wanted to say thanks fin for helping us with root and Google play bud, great work. Don't know what we would do without ya! I don't really have many problems except for the way it charges and the stupid charging cable connection, barely stays in lol. I have been running this for a few months and not sure if there were any updates to your ROM? Not sure what version she has, I will have to check. But mainly just wanted to say thanks Buddy!

No internet connectivity...

Today I woke up, turned on my tablet and none of my apps could connect to the internet (Dropbox, Market) except for my browsers. I remembered I changed my gmail password so I went in, deleted my google account and tried to add my existing one with the new password. However whenever I try to sign in I get a message that says...

"Can't establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call customer care."

So I tried my Dolphin browser and I am able to surf the internet with no problem. So I went to the Dropbox app to see if it could connect and it won't connect saying...

"Can't connect to dropbox. Make sure your online or try again later."

This is not the first time I've had this problem mind you. I had to reinstall the Finless rom to get my internet back prior to this because of the same problem. I have done nothing different to my knowledge. No new apps were installed. My tablet had been off for several days though but that shouldn't cause any problems. I thought the reason why this problem happened before was because I had installed the latest version of busy box and super user and Finless told me now to do that so I made sure to not update those this time. However no matter what I have tried none of my apps can seem to connect to the internet except for my browsers. Very very odd and this will be the second time I will have to restore the Finless rom if I cannot find a solution to.

Finless are you still around? I never got a response back from you from my older posts about the Netflix update but I could really use some guidance here.

EDIT: Tested the stock browser and it does not get internet either. It seems the only app thus far that gets internet access is the Dolphin browser. I tried looking at my router settings but everything looks go and considering my phone and my laptops work just fine I don't think its smart to blame the router. Any ideas?

EDIT:

Ok found out that my time had been reset to 2011. So I changed my time back to the proper date and time and everything came back alive. Google Play, Dropbox and all my other apps were able to connect to the internet. Its rather weird that the system time would cause such a hassle. This means that every time my tablet runs out of juice I will have to reset my time.

Any thoughts on this?

That is a newer model... You may have to look elsewhere for a stock rom.

I restarted my pc and i managed to erase IDB using the stock rom and installed it but again i stuck on Calibration screen

tried to get netflix to work as well. no go. none of the buttons work. downloaded an update for netflix yesterday with the hopes of it working. nope. darn.

Well I do not know what to tell you. You nextbook folks are a strange crowd.

I do ROMs almost every day and my focus is on those that are not rooted or do not have a good ROM yet. Unfortunately for you all with nextbooks, the leaves little time to work more on your already better than the manufacturer ROM.

I have threads here that teach how to do what I have done. Yet no one wants to step up and become a nextbook ROM developer. We have a few devs here but no one stepping up for the nextbook. I am sorry. I do not have the time anymore to work on more than just making better ROMs for those that do not have them! Maybe later I will.

I know for fact there are a few folks out there that know how to cook nextbook ROMs! But alas.. They are not willing to take on the challenges you seek. WHY? I do not know? There are at least 2 people here I have helped and I know they KNOW how to make ROMs now. I will not name thier names but I think they could do much what you ask. Alas, for whatever reason they choose not to. Not sure why but it is what it is.

Instead of asking me (and I do not even OWN a nextbook), how about asking the community of nextbook people?

Sorry I could not help sooner but it is what it is.... I only have so much time in a day. I am sorry that I could not spend more time making what you desire happen

NextBook not compatible with some apps after root

Hi - Thanks Finless - great root for the NextBook 7 - I got mine from BigLots and it worked OK, until I got fed-up and got your ROM - nice upgrade and easy... I have noticed a few things. Note: this is not directed at Finless, but anyone who can point me in the right direction as to how to fix this, etc.

#1 - Some apps do not show up in Google Play - like "Backup Everything" - I remember from rooting an older tablet, that once done I had to run through a procedure to clear caches and data from Google Market and Google Framework, then restart and the Market would work just fine. Anyone have any ideas? I have found the procedure and followed it as closely as I could (it was for an old WM8650 tablet) - but some things like clearing the cache are not available... anyone know how to clear the cache on the NextBook/Android-4?

#2 - Some APPS that used to work do not work any longer - BIG ONE for me: "AutoCadWS" - this worked on the NextBook, now it doesn't after the root... ugh. Also, AVG Anti-Virus... not a biggie, I just switched to Lookout, but I hope this could indicate what could be happening. Anyone else experienced this? I have read through some of the posts, and I have seen the problem with the calendar app - I have not seen a fix... I also have this problem. Anyone have a work-around or alternate app that accesses my google calendar and works with it?

That's about it. Finless, great job on the ROM - sorry noone else here has taken the project and ran with it like you have - I wish I had the time to poke around with this stuff.

Just wanting to say thanks.

I, like many, bought one of these tablets at Big Lots and found the stock rom to be lacking. I stumbled onto this site and was immediately impressed by the amount of knowledge that is freely shared and how some folks will bend over backwards to help another, even one whom they do not know. I flashed this rom last night and everything went smoothly and I'm rooted and have a working Google play! Thank you Finless.

Now I'm really interested in finding out all that I can about the android system and to see if I can "tinker under the hood" and possibly cook up a rom of my own. I'm wondering if there is a place like "the android university"? I think this forum is as close as I may find to that and I plan on hanging around for a long time. I'm eager to learn and I'll do a lot more reading before I begin asking questions but I wanted to say that I truly appreciate all the hard (and sometimes thankless) work that you developers put in.

hello i would just like to say that your rom is great, it worked perfect in my tablet, doc hoppys didnt work and kustom kreme didnt either. When i flashed this i was like wow i have a nice rooted android 4.0 tablet. I only have one small issue, whenever i try to change the input keyboard the tablet restarts. Other than that its perfect. My tablet model is yf0612.

time drift was a common problem I had in Linux back in the days.
if you Google Linux time drift you might nd a solution.
if u need help let me know. I will help if I can.
if u are still having Netflix and the like related issues.
ill help if I can also.
I just want to add to Finless' post.
I have to agree. if u look at the next book forums, on the average, the Los u will see
is 15 to 20 viewers at any given time. compared to the 45 to 65 in the forums.
plus Fin less is just one dude with a life outside of freak tab that has accomplished a lot.
he has done a lot for rk tab owners.
with 10,000+ members and growing he is being spread thin? don't u think?
that being said, I got two jobs, kids, a household to maintain.
I try to help out where I can. I only own an original nextbook7. so other than the basics I don't know rk30.
but others that are helpful do. I am working on a from for my tab, and a few other things, as well as trying to get Finless' rooms with universal wifi, with member crackitopen.but I don't want to commit to dev cause I consider myself more a Linux hacker, more importantly, I don't want to let Fin less or any next book owner down.
and I am not where I want to be with. the rom lol
but I can and with will help if possible.

try re-download. if it happens again, post it here. might be something Fin less needs to check out on his end.
