Thanks, I managed to switch off location service. But it was not that easy:-)
I installed Power Toggles [PT] and added default widget. Then I touched location icon and had to grant root privileges to PT. But it does not changed location mode in Settings. I started PT (apk from icon, not from widget). In PT - Settings -> Toggle settings ->GPS -> Sources
And there activated third and fourth box "Network" and "Off". First two boxes ("GPS & Network" and "GPS" leaved empty).
Now with PT, GPS icon I can activate/deactivate location services.
I checked ro.pipo.support.gps state in both cases. It stays "false" all the time (checking with build.prop editor).

You are absolutely right, I 've done this also but have forget it !!!!

In fact, if you set ro.pipo.support.gps to true, you will see in location the others settings ("GPS & Network" and "GPS" ) so as our tablet has no GPS , let it to false. but PT has not this settings by default, so need to change also as you did.

I was asking muself the question and I'd probably need to update it as well, so I was wondering which version to use...

No, I didn't check if it was the same. I installed the one from the link I posted, the rk3188 1920/1200 KitKat version and it works.

Hi,

I have written 6 posts above my solution

I haven't any location button in quick settings.

So I have installed the app Power Toggle from play store.

And with its widget, I can now enable or disable the location service.
A question is then showed if I want to enable location.

I don't know why I 've got no icon in quick settings even with Gravity box
But Power toogle does this, so it's OK for me

It does not work, but can be easily fixed. Install ArcTools, then go to "Install Apps" and select "Fix Broken Contacts/People and Calendar apps on Rockchip RK3188 Android 4.4.2". You may need to reboot after this process. That's it.

You will not find the app in Google Play. Check the link below and search for "ArcTools Apk":

Thanks it worked!!! You people are amazing! I use Groove IP with my google number to make or receive calls if I'm on my tablet and far away from my phone. Has anyone had issues with the sound? If I plug in some headphones the sound is horrible but if I connect using my bluetooth the sound is great... I have a feeling it may be a hardware issue though.

I mean: I am actually using this rom and everythings runs smootly. I have only two small "issues":

1) When charging, the M8HD remains powered on: no matter what U do, but it stills turns on and remain that way... I suppose it then goes to "sleep", since the charging is normally completed after some time, but it just stays on...

2) Wifi signal strenght slightly lower than before (most probably it is an "original issue" of the tablet itself, compared to other devices, because I really made a lot of test in the same places, using same access point and configuration, within a few minutes...),


These are not really "issues".. just something which (maybe) could be perfected...

i just flash the 1.6 rom
but the tablet have big lagg issue, and i try hay day game, and ist unplayable ....
but hayday working great on my U8 .... i dont know what to do ...

i will try to flash back original rom, to see if there any difference ....

OK i reflashed 4.2.2 ROM
And now hayday is working great .... Strange


ps : i try kasty-pipo-m8_hd-442-20140219-rooted4 same problem, big lag with hayday
with rom 4.2.2 ist ok but the tab is bit laggy, i guess maybe i have faulty M8HD ... ;(

I keep getting a red sand box like notification everytime it loads something is that normal?

Strange. My Pipo works without such effects. Sometimes it resets, especially during play of highly compressed movies with MX Player after sleep. After fresh start it plays movies without reset.

Maybe a hard reset will help... interesting enough just yesterday I noticed it reset itself too. I thought the battery died but surely enough it turned back on

Hard reset

So I'm trying to do the hard reset on the Android menus and turns of the tablet and loads up TWRP v2.6.3.0. when I select wipe it gives me the swipe to factory reset. Once I do that it says
E: Unable to mount '/sdcard
/cache
/data
/system
/internal storage
The when I try to reboot it says it can't find the OS
I have to manually turn it off and on and then it loads everything up with no changes.

As I said few post above, you need to update your TWRP to the right version (v2.7 for Pipo M8HD).
