If you can't find a way to get Skype to work, you MIGHT have to give Google Talk or OoVoo a try...

Thanks! Uninstalled Skype for Android Tablets and installed Skype for Android. Problem gone. Still not able to get good sound quality, but that seems to be due to slow internet speed. We've decided to return it. To bad, becuase it's a really nice tablet. just don't have any need if we can't read bedtime stories over it.

Google ERROR "CURRENT LOCATION TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE."

Grabbed 702c at BL today to fill in for a 701c with busted screen. Was a little disappointed that 702c has even more bloatware that can't be easily uninstalled. That said, had no difficulty quickly installing Google Play and downloading a dozen apps. The problem is, Google Maps (Places etc.) and Assistant (which uses Google) can't find my location. Getting "CURRENT LOCATION TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE." message. Have checked every setting that seemed logical. Anybody else have this problem and know of a fix? Or should I reflash ROM and start afresh? Thanks

Hi, any ideas on how to make the g-sensor work properly for some apps and games such as Temple Run? I already tried the regular and special coordinate options.

Location Services, G-Sensor for some games, Camera, & Netflix

I picked up two of these at Big Lots to replace a PMID701C which I had flashed to ICS with the rom from ST.

          First the positive.

Unlike the ICS flashed PMID701C, I did not need to change my Netflix quality settings to get freeze free playback.

          Now, the negatives.

I loved the fact that Google location services was able to find my location to within about 20 yards without any GPS or cellular (using known WIFI SSIDs in range I suppose) on the PMID701C. But I just get location unavailable with the PMID702C.

No-Go on the G-Sensor in Temple Run.

Camera access Amazon Marketplace, Chase Banking, Schwab Banking, Pulse Rate Monitor, and so far any program other than Camera and (from what I have read as I haven't tried it myself) Skype.

If I cannot get the camera to be useful these will be going back as well.

Very disappointed as the one feature I wanted (Camera) doesn't work with the apps for which I would find it most useful and it came at the expense of other features I loved.

Any hacks available to fix these services?

          Thanks in advance.

            screen shots

This is my first tablet - can anyone tell me if there is a way to take a screenshot with the camera?

Don't need to involve the camera at all. There are plenty of free and paid apps available that will allow you to take screenshots. Some of them do require a rooted device but this isn't always the case.

If you have Amazon appstore or Google Play just search for "Screenshot" or "screen capture". Those search terms should yield plenty of apps that will take screenshots for you.

Right now I'm playing around with "Screenshot Everywhere" downloaded from Google Play. It seems to work well enough but I've only used it a few times.

                Home Button Doesn't Work

The home buttons on my PMID702C don't do anything. They worked when I first unboxed the tablet but right after installing Google Play, they stopped working. Can someone tell me what I can try to get them working again?

I had another problem with my problem 702C, this morning I had been reading a kindle book and it went to sleep. When I woke it, the screen was frozen and wouldn't swipe open. I could at this point have either tried to long hold the power button to shut it down, or press the reset on the back. I did the button, and when it booted back up, it said "Decryption Failure" must do factory reset.

I lost all my Play Store and apps and setup I had already done. At this point, I decided to try to flash the factory image from the Southern Telecom website. Here is the link:

Within the link is a download link for the zip file. Inside the zip file is the flash utility called "Live Suite", usb drivers, the actual image, and a pdf file with directions. I knew I was taking a bit of a risk doing it on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I followed the directions in the pdf file. The only thing that didn't go right is the progress bar that's supposed to show you that it is flashing the img DISAPPEARED!! I did it twice actually, but the second time I just waited, and even though the progress bar disappeared, after about 3 minutes the OK!!! message box popped up! And The tablet booted up and seems fine. The date of the build now shows 20120507, but it is still the same kernel. About the only thing that stood out to me as different was they now have a butt ugly boot screen, and they made some huge "Windows 8" lookin' widgets for the Polaroid apps and settings widgets.

I'm going to try to exchange this one tonight anyway, especially after this storage corruption/factory reset problem , so it was kinda' fun trying this, but it was a little scary!!

                      Agree

I ended up screwing with the tablet where I needed to restore it and saw what you mean first hand. Unfortunately the adhoc networks no longer work with this update. It just says "saved" but will never connect. I posted to see if someone will upload their orinigal firmware, if you have it can you please post it???

                      thanks,

                        Gallery

Has anyone got the gallery app to sync with their Picasa account? All I can see are the local photos... And I have the other gapps installed.

                            PMID701C FIRST, THEN PMID702C

I'm going to get the first one first, see how that is then I'll try out the second one. On the video n2tech07 put out he even said the PMID702c isn't as fast as the first model. I know the first one doesn't have a camera but the camera on the second doesn't really blow either, it's mainly for video calls not taking pics, and I take more pics than make video calls. Plus I could always update the PMID701c to 4.0. Thanks for the help guys, y'all know what y'all talking bout!

I had the same problem after installing Google Play, I tried everything I could think of to no avail, then I finally resorted to a factory reset which solved the problem.

Those were the same instructions I followed, and I ended up with my Home buttons disabled, too. They had been working after I installed Google Play, but at some point, for some unknown reason, a few hours later they just stopped working. One thing I did that may have contributed to the problem was to follow the optional advice: "As a 4th step you might want to press the home button, select the checkmark which says “open always with”, and then select Launcher."I suspect this might have messed things up, but I don't know. At any rate, a factory reset solved the issue.

Edit: After a factory reset, and re-installing Google Play using the same method, things worked well for a good six hours, but when I woke up the next morning the home buttons weren't working again. Scratch the theory about the "4th step" contributing to the problem, as I didn't do that step this time, and still ended up screwed. So, I now think that installing Google Play using the above shortcut method should probably be avoided, and will go with another method.
