Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 2.7 KitKat

This ROM is based on an official update posted by Pipo dated 3/6/14. A link to the firmware is located in the v2.6 thread.

As usual, there's no changelog...do I have no idea what's new.

EDIT: I have notice improved GPS performance, almost immediately!!!!!!

If you are flashing a KitKat for the very first time...YOU MUST LEAVE THE LOADER CHECKED in the flash tool. The loader has been updated as well, so if you are upgrading from 2.5...keep the loader checked.

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE FLASHING A KITKAT ROM ON YOUR M7 Pro...READ THIS THREAD!!!!!!!

Just beware that I was a little frustrated when I wrote that thread...so the tone is a little jaded...but the information is very important. Plus, if you do end up bricking your tablet, there is a solution in post #2.

    As usual this ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d Support
    Busybox Support
    English Default
2, 4, 6, 8, or 12gb user app space by changing parameter files
Multiple ko modules for VPN and other networking support added
Patched libril file to enhance deep sleep
    Boot Animation by Tattman65
    Reboot app by Petrus
    Updated First Time User's Guide
Rockchip driver installer app is now included in the kit

There are two other features I've added that are pretty significant.

The auto install feature will allow you to install apk files (apps) from your external SD card, if you place the files in a folder called "autoinstall". You must take the spaces out of the file names for each of the apk files. It doesn't really matter what file name you choose, just no spaces.

The apps will populate to your app drawer shortly after the first boot is complete. Just wait for all of them to populate before you reboot. Wait a few more seconds after the last app, for the custom recovery to install last.

The next feature I've added in this ROM is TWRP custom recovery. This is similar to CWM, but BETTER...because it works. You will have a GUI interface with touch screen capability. Just be patient with the screens...there is a little glitch in the screen refresh that Freaktab Developer Abdul_Pt is working on. If you touch a button and nothing happens, just touch the back button at the top and you will get to the screen you want. Just play around with and be patient until we get everything ironed out.

If you have trouble with the TWRP within the ROM, you can manually flash this TWRP update from Abdul_Pt. (Just flash it by itself after first boot by un-checking everything except recovery in the flash tool. Browse the flash tool recovery line to wherever you downloaded this file. DON'T ERASE IDB when flashing just recovery, or you will erase the whole ROM) DOWNLOAD TWRP UPDATE (I had a touchy delete finger the other day, and I think I deleted the update Abdul made, so you still need to update TWRP, to this one...sorry...I didn't think about it until I finished the ROM).

    Download

If you are running the 3G version of this tablet and are having reception issues...and you don't really care about deep sleep or battery consumption, I've uploaded an alternate ROM for you to try. This is based on the same firmware, but comes with the stock libril file.

    Download

Let me say a few things about donations for a minute....

All of the funds I receive from you guys as donations go directly into supporting my hobby...making custom ROMs. With your help, I've been able to purchase many Pipo tablets to develop and test with. Thankfully, I have a good friend at Geekbuying.com who gives me a discount and occasionally sends me a sample (like he did with my M7 Pro). I've also added much needed equipment to my kitchen PC to make things go much easier. So your donations are greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

With Spring approaching, the 2014 models may soon be released, so I will need to order the newer tablets to continue with development efforts. Donations kind of slacked off around Christmas, so funds are quite low.

    So..........

If this ROM makes a difference for you, please consider a donation to support future RileyROM's here at Freaktab.com

        Sorry, I don't have a 3G device...they don't work in the USA.

                Hi everyone!
I'm got question about update from 2.6 KK to 2.7 KK:
How backup and restore user application and data?
                Thanks

I'm still on stock version. With the stock libril-rk29-dataonly.so the WCDMA/3G/2G signal is very good, strong and stable (in comparaison to the generic libril with deep sleep) and it switch between 2G/3G more easely. But no Deep sleep as you know. I have tried all combinaison... (freeze data mobile or other mobile app with Titanium Backup but I couldn't find the solution). SMS doesn't work.

                  As I prefer a strong WCDMA/3G signal, I prefer let the stock libril-rk29-dataonly.so. (root/system/lib)
When I don't need the 3G data I rename the libril-rk29-dataonly.so to libril-rk29-dataonly and reboot.
The Deep sleep works obviously. If I need the data I rename the libril-rk29-dataonly to libril-rk29-dataonly.so and reboot. I only need the data sometimes (but with good signal...) so this solution is the best for me.

stock libril-rk29-dataonly.so (from last stock Firmware) http://www.mediafire.com/download/p3...29-dataonly.so (133Ko)

Edit: now I'm using the last RileyROM (2.7) with the stock libril-rk29-dataonly.so
WCDMA signal is good/strong/stable as I expect. I have just test this feature and rename my libril-rk29-dataonly.so to libril-rk29-dataonly and reboot. Deep sleep is working normally.

manao, you are using 3G the same way as I do. Good idea!
Just wonder if author of reboot app can add this option to the app menu. The code itself should be simple. I've not tried any of those apps aailable from market but expect they will not help in our case.

That's a good question for Petrus. I'm really busy today...could some post something on his thread...be as detailed as possible as to what you need.

You could install Script Manager from play store, create a shell script to do that and add a widget for the Script.
I think it will be better and simple.

abdul_pt, yes I can. But do not like this way. I prefer to have as minimum apps of such kind as possible.
                              So will ask Petrus
