Is it possible to do this before rooting my tab. I would appreciate any links or guide to getting this done pls. Thank you all in anticipation.

Yes Waga, I can confirm you that I rooted my T9 with Framaroot 1.9.3.
You can update your firmware using SP Flash Tool, I advice you to search for V5.13.52.200 tested successfully by me. Of course you must have installed MTK drivers prior on your PC.
You can install a custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP) using Mobileuncle MTK Tools apk, free in the Play Store.
Sorry but I can't give you a detailed guide to do so, I followed infos here and there, plus, English is not my native language so forgive me.
I'm confident that Riley will give you more detailed explanations.

OK guys....I'm just itching to order one of these new T9's, but the donations are getting pretty sparse.
I would like to have something to test before I release the ROM I've been working on. I've done a few MTK ROM's so far...some have worked great, but others are a little rough around the edges (meaning there are some flashing issues).
If you are looking for a custom ROM, please consider a donation.Randy

CM11 for Pipo T9

Can you tell us about it...
Android version?
What works?
What doesn't?
As a side note, not meant as a jab at your ROM, I'd be happy to pay if you can get CM11 working on it.
It's just that I'm familiar with CM11 and know what to expect, what's included and what I need to add.

I'm working with the factory firmware to root, debloat, add init.d support and some other tweaks.
I just need to test it some more.Randy

I haven't heard anything about KK on this device, yet.
It's odd, because the iFive MTK tablets have KK.Randy

Stuck in the TF Card Slot - 64GB MicroSDXC
Originally posted by ytheleus View PostIt's also possible to push a micro SDHC card right inside the case if you get the angle wrong. Don't ask how I know this. This was my very first attempt to use the TF Card Slot. Maybe you can help me, or others in putting in their SDHC card and removing same.
How is the card ejected? Do you push it in further, and when you release it -- a Spring should eject the card? Or do you just pull the card out?
Only about 10 to 15 percent of my micro SDXC is still visible. Did I get it pushed in way too far? With a properly inserted card -- how much is visible?
Did I really aggrevate my problem by trying an MicroSDXC card into the slot? I have had trouble with other Pipo tablets -- inserting and ejecting a TF memory card. But this is the worse it has ever been.

@gogojoe, I experienced a similar panic when I put my microSD. It won't come out easily.
There is a spring mechanism, but very delicate, and a little faulty IMHO.
However, continuing press with a clip eventually card came out. I advice you to press repeatedly in the center and in the edges of the card till it come out. Don't push too hard, of course.
With the card correctly inserted you can see only the larger border of it, so a tiny slice, maybe 10% as you told.

It's supposed to click into place, pin side towards the [edit] screen, leaving an edge showing. The warning was to prevent people from pushing it all the way into the case, as I did.
Once it clicks in, the proper way to then get it back out is to push it in slightly further, which should 'eject' the card with a spring release. I don't think the SDXC format should be a problem, externally they are the same as SDHC as far as I know. Though SDXC in high capacities isn't officially supported, it should still work.
I suppose the best way to tell if a card is inserted properly is to see if it is present as an SD drive on your tab. If not, I''d try pulling it out and inserting it again carefully so it clicks in.
It's basically a slightly daft port design, with a big hole where there should be a thin slot just big enough to fit the card. However, after a certain amount of messing about mine works fine, albeit with a 32GB SDHC. I'd like to know if 64GB works, but don't have one to try.Last edited by ytheleus; 25 June 2014, 14:06.

Sh*tty design SIM and SDCard slots - PROBLEM: SIM card slot NOT working
I had the same problem with the sdcard slot. I put it in and couldn't get it out. I had to use a table knife to pull it out, with a lot of force. Basically, for all intensive purposes, it was stuck.
Then I tried to put in a sim card (with an adapter). My adapter is metal and doesn't have a lot of play to get over the slight bump (take a look).
This led to problems when I tried to remove the sim card.
I had to use tiny pliars to bend the edge up just to have a place to grab on to.
Worse yet, you can't even access either of these slots without removing Pipo's case first and then a door.
I've already altered the little door that blocks the USB slot. I suggest you all do the same! Either cut, clip or melt a rectangle so that you can access this usb slot easily.
This leads to my problem.
I have inserted the sim and it doesn't register... nothing.
I've restarted.. nothing.
I've removed (the now bent up sim card adapter with sim) and re-inserted 20x times.
Nothing...
I've even tried to reach pipo via both emails and skype... no response. 3 days now with repeated efforts.
Any ideas?
What should I do?Last edited by grendude; 24 June 2014, 18:44.

In my case, instead, once I reach to remove the micro sd, slot became perfect, with normal spring in/out mechanism. Maybe it needed some running in??
About micro sd cards: I can confirm that 64gb Samsung works very well in my T9.
@grendude: maybe your sim adapter has broken something into the slot... or perhaps, if the adapter is slightly thicker than standard, there is a chance that the card miss the right electrical connections.
Try with a full size sim card if you can get one from a friend.
