    Yepp, that's Bob's thought too.

Noderat have you tested 4036? Using the ROM in #69.

    Would appreciate test and DMESG

One thing is for sure good. You find a way to boot over ac power alone and the usb mouse ans keyboard is working. Okay it is only for 20 sec. stable,

Is it possible to grab DMESG via ADB in the 20 seconds?

    ADB shell

    DMESG > /sdcard/DM-4036-JD.txt
    Exit

    ADB pull /sdcard/DM-4036-JD.txt .

Interesting new controller. Screen has no more flickering at the first boot.
Booting over otg gets now to bootanimation behind the bootlogo, the screen switches off, switches on twice or so, then the ROM reboot with the same result.

Booting over ac power boots to desktop and then comes the loop back to bootanimation/system and again and again.

One thing is for sure good. You find a way to boot over ac power alone and the usb mouse ans keyboard is working. Okay it is only for 20 sec. stable, but it is progress.

    Hehehehehehe what is this.
I let the ROM run some minutes in the loop from desktop back to bootanimation and finally I got this on the screen

[picture of a lock]Type password to decrypt storage
[picture of Android man] type your password _______________________________

Darell is that a joke or something of interest.

Remembers me on the booting of my nexus 7 with a lock, but no trouble to boot complete. Does the ROM ask for a password for the hardware, kernel or what is this.

V4031 - Only booted with logo and restarted. No desktop. USB trick did not work for this one.

V4032 - Similar to V4029. boot problem. USB trick works. MIC works. sound manager has SPDIF removed.

    Cheers,
    HKP168 - THANK YOU!

It seems the latest kernels source can produce a very effective KK experience for some. We just need to get it working for all.

Again, HDMI module gets a return message from TV:

Can you post DMESG and provide details of your TV BOX? Thanks!

Just to be clear these kernels are all tests to get the configuration clear and bugs removed. Only flash if you want to help the development process.
Your kernel boots with ac power supply to the desktop, but after about 20 seconds it falls back to system booting(bootanimation). Apps like settings and explorer do not start. RKvideo starts, but then the loop reboot follows again and again. I have no choice to pull parts of the logcat to see what kind of loop we have.

    JDfense

    Edit:
I forgot to mention, that otg isn't anymore able to boot the rom, only to the bootlogo ugoos, then it switches without looping back to boot.

V4027 - Boot problem remains (Booted logo, desktop and rebooted roughly 30 seconds). With USB OTG tricks, it booted up to a stable desktop. There was no sound input and output devices. Wifi+BT works. No Mac address.

V4029. Boot problems remains. I needed to boot it using USB trick.

This version is very nice in terms of sound manager.

    Mic (sound recording) works.

Audio works well. Audio output depends on the sound encoding scheme of a movie. I had my TV box connected to my monitor via HDMI as well as an optical SPDIF cable connecting to a Yamaha AV receiver driving 5.1 speakers. I summarised in the table below.
Sound Devices Manager HDMI connected to TV/Monitor SPDIF connected to a Yamaha AVR
    Movie 2CH Movie DD5.1 Movie DTS5.1 Movie 2CH Movie DD5.1 Movie DTS5.1
RK29_RK1000 Stereo Stereo* Stereo* Silent Silent Silent
ROCKCHIP-SPDIF Silent Silent Silent Stereo Stereo* Stereo*
RK29_RK1000 & ROCKCHIP-SPDIF Stereo Stereo* Stereo* Stereo Stereo* Stereo*
ROCKCHIP-SPDIF PASSTHROUGH Silent Silent Silent Stereo DD5.1 (AC3) DTS 5.1
RK29_RK1000 5POINT1 MULTICH Stereo Stereo** Silent Silent Silent Silent
RK29_RK1000 PASSTHROUGH Stereo white noise Silent Silent Silent Silent
stereo means audio works - left and right channels.
stereo* means audio works - 5.1 channels down-mixed to left and right channels.
Stereo** I had music from the movie but missing the centre channel (dialog) and rear channels.

SPDIF passthrough works very well (5.1 channels) on my AV receiver. I guess you might have different results on the HDMI port depending on your TV/Monitor's capability.

V4031 - Only booted with logo and restarted. No desktop. USB trick did not work for this one.

V4032 - Similar to V4029. boot problem. USB trick works. MIC works. sound manager has SPDIF removed.

Thanks, but I scrapped my switch onboard reset, and to use any reboot apps you have to boot first... sometimes with some kernels the device do not boot
