Dont know about the sound, i was just talking about the big screen issue if u use a sd kernel as u did. If u use this kernel v3.1 kernel_t_AP6210_SD_v310.img or another sd kernel u will have this screen problem like on ur picture u posted. To fix this u can change the screen resolution or flash a hd kernel for example v3.1 kernel_t_AP6210_HD_v310.img.

Too small TV...

If u change resolution to 1280x 720 the screen will be ok, but after restart u will get the same uber big screen again as in ur picture above. Use the hd instead of the sd kernel and it will work fine even after restarting ur device.

Yepp you don't have a RK1000 codec so won't work

In settings-> sound there is a Sound Device Manager. With the right kernel you get the option to set audio outputs. The desire is to get 5.1 audio passed via HDMI or spdif to a home cinema amp or surround capable tv

I've bricked my TV Box and don't have the tools to open it up whilst away from home, so I'm out of the game for a few days.

I may be getting excited about nothing but I notice that both the 'new' ROMs both have a Sound Device manager that offer pass through sound. My hotel TV gives no indication of what it is receiving so I don't know if it was receiving multi-channel sound or not but the setting worked (with my kernel)

Perhaps you can try?
