I think it will be easy to port KK to it and even Cyanogenmod, especially considering it uses EXT4 instead of UBIFS. The stock kernel should support KK too. I think we may need a different bootloader for KK though.
Yeah KK ROMS, I believe, need a GEN 2 Rockchip loader in order for the ROM to work. RrileyPM points this out in the PIPO forums.

We already have a 3.0.36+ kernel, which should work for KK, so hopefully, our current bootloader will work also. If not, maybe we can swap one from another device.

In rockchip 4.4 have a new partition (metadata), and selinux support in the kernel, so 4.2 kernels don't work in kk

From what I've been reading, yeah that makes sense. Also, my parameter file shows a metadata partition in the thing itself, like Nextbook may be rolling a 4.4 update in the near future.

I don't think Nextbook will roll out any updates, but it looks like we may be all set for KK.

RosaFang posted a link a few posts above to Moborobo with the drivers you need.

I installed the Moborobo and it doesn't find my tablet either....So no drivers installed and Kingo doesn't find it either. I have restarted both computer and tablet. Still nothing.

Starting to get down and dirty with my NX785QC8G

It's about time I get mine rooted, dump the recovery and attempt to replace it, before the return period ends in case I brick the thing...

                      Rooted using Kingo Root

I got my tablet rooted and I'm working on dumping the firmware and learning how to flash it.

                        can't find my tablet...

I have downloaded the Mobo and the Kingo and neither one of them can see my tablet. I have USB debugging checked and unknown apps checked. I guess I will try it from my laptop today.

I was able to dump the firmware, and I know how to get recovery installed.

Now I just need to find or make a compatible recovery and learn about modding Rockchip ROMs.

I had trouble with mine too... but my troubles were getting the software installed... bug in my firewall software... had to remove comodo firewall and switch to windows firewall.
