If you'd read the thread you'd know there isn't one for KitKat ROM's yet ( that supports passthru )... but they are trying to work on it.

I copied the meat of the thread here... I know it works for me on the Miracle rom just asking if someone here could try it as I would like to test QS3...

1. Download libmedia.so here.
2. Rename it to libmedia.so
3. Overwrite it in system. ( / -> system -> lib )
4. Download and install

• XBMC "lib hack" here.
• XBMCZ does it well and needs no config. Get it here. ( point 1-3 is still needed, but you can skip point 8 )

5. Set passthrough - Settings -> Sound -> Sound Device Manager ->

• RK29_RT5616 Passhrough ( HDMI )
• RockChip SPDIF Passthrough (SPDIF )

6. Reboot.
7. Launch XBMC.
8. Setup XBMC.

• Settings -> sound output set 5.1 channel and activate passthroug + AC3 + DTS.

And now you should have 5.1 surround active and XBMC. ( does work here )

Ah... now that I have read the link... The instructions on where to get that patch and how to install it are on the page you linked to... so it looks like you've answered the main two parts of the question you asked...

As for if it will work... the only way to find out is for someone to try it. I suspect the NitroTeam dev's are likely asleep about now... you may want to backup your install first just to play it safe. I just use stereo myself... so I'm not interested

The question was just a lead in. I've got my X7 working sweet and almost scared to re flash... LOL I can do a backup and just give it a shot I guess. Just thought I would share and see if someone could test with QS3 before I made the switch...

Sounds easy to do... For now I only miss passthrough with XBMC, the rest of the ROM is perfect for me...

We already tried this and didn't work, we think it doesn't work because is based on a early version of kitkat. We are still trying to figure this out.

Hi

another little feedback for mini users.

Passthru via SPDIF works fine with MXplayer in HW mode (HW+ will automatically downmix to stereo).

Tested on AC3 and DTS movies !

I found a little app on store call sleep button, to put the box in sleep mode (no physical button on the mini version...)

A quickflasher patch to spoof a well-known tab could be interresting...

Have you an A2 remote or a remote with sound on it?
If you read in the thread we have advice this problem. If not reinstall the ROM, we don't have this problem.
We are working to solve problems in the ROM, patience.

On qs3 open the flashtool and only erase nand.
Then close the tool and open the tool found in quickshot v2.zip

Just press run and dont erase nand first
System will prompt fail.
Erase nand again because now its in maskrom mode.
After that again erase nand from v2
Then run in v2.
Done.
You now can flash normal again.

Somewhere I read that needed to delete the NAND ONLY from QV3 ... and It was not necessary also cancel by V2

1) Run the flash tool on the 4.4.2 ROM (KitKat)
2) Erase NAND.
3) Close the KitKat Flash Tool and now run the Flash Tool from the 4.2.2 (Jellybean) or 4.1 whatever ROM.
4) DO NOT erase NAND again. Just flash

ONLY from QV3 and it was not necessary also cancel by V2 ... you confirm above?

Thanks for the info, we are on it. We will release a update-patch soon, no estimated time to arrive yet. It will spoof the device like MINIX X7 so airpin can work on it.
We tested to spoof the device like a nexus 7 and no advantages on play store with it. For this we made the market helper guide linked in first post, but if you want we can release an optional patch to spoof the device like a nexus 7.

Can you please post an screenshot where we can see the exact name of the device that appears in settings?
I think that we found how avoid this problem with a2, but I need your exact name to try to make it work for your remote too.

USB Audio output

I use a DAC between Minix and my HiFi stereo.
With V2 The DAC and high quality music works perfectly! Can I expect the same thing with the V3?

(I have not yet installed the V3 because the audio is a priority for me. As long as I'm not sure how to get back without brick, I can not install the V3)
