Hello,
I am new to this - please help.

I installed version 3.1 using the RK tool like the video suggested.

I got resotre OK - now, do I need to install 1080P kernels as well or are they included?
Should I use overclocked kernel?

You have 1080 kernel by default (read carefully pg. 1) and if all works fine for you I don't see the need for an OC kernel.

can't discover upnp servers

Guys
I have some problems discovering upnp servers by the minix x7 (quickshot v2/v3/v3.1). I tried many servers and many clients (mediatomb,minidlna,serviio/upnplay,monkey upnp, bubbleupnp). The client on minix can't discover upnp server automatically. I stopped at Serviio and UPnPlay.
The only workaround i've found was to add a server as a WAN server to upnplay client, then try to open it. At this time client fails to open this manually added server but it discovers serviio server after that.
I also tried to change IGMP version on server between 2 and 3 but without any effect.
At the same time other droid devices: samsung galaxy tab (cyanogenmod 10) , samsung galaxy s4 mini (android 4.3), sony xperia z (android 4.4) and even iphone 4 can discover the server on the same network without any issues.
Any experience with that behaviour??

unfortunately for me seems to be a hw issue, I tried to make it work when I was making the kernels, but no way to do it

Will beyond xbmc work on this rom? I want to switch over to kitkat but do not want to lose this program. I have tried it on other kitkat roms without any luck, causing me to switch back to jb which can be a pain. I am currently using finless 1.9 which is very stable and beyond xbmc works just fine along with passthrough. All I have seen is xbmc 13.1 working on kitkat. Is this still the case?

beyond xbmc or any xbmc frodo compilation don't works good in any kitkat rom, Gotham is used for kk

On a different matter : does anyone use an a microphone connected to the mic jack of the X7 ?
I just tried a couple of different ones, but no luck, no sound is captured...

It doesn't work, I think it didn't work in the stocks 4.2 rom too

I finally found and installed in QS3.1 a Wifidisplay.apk (https://mega.co.nz/#!tZRmxbhK!XmPFXh...jAOJ4WUEldUOQ0)
from a 4.4.2 ROM for another rk3188 box.
Unfortunately, as it happened with previous 4.2.2 firmwares, my Nexus 5
establishes a connection but soon loses it so it cannot cast its screen...


Any hint on build.prop check ? Install time or runtime ?

it doesn't work, that's why we don't include it on Quickshot.
Rockchip is still working with that app. No luck for now.

is the any chance you will make available the Wi-fi Display app in QS3.1 or in the next version ?

Also, it is really unfortunate we cannot use Airpin Pro because of the check on the system name in the build.prop file. OK, we can change it (BTW, the check is only when the app is installed or each time it runs ?), but is there any other final solution ?

I am reading about asound and ALSA, etc.. Could you please tell me how to access the dmesg log.

I installed a sshd server on the X7 so I have full shell access with many commands including dmesg.
Otherwise, there are a few apps for dmesg, although I did not try any of them...

The XBMC System/Audio settings screen looks different though !
I did a clean install of QS3.1 so I should have the fixed libmedia.so and XBMC version...
Same story with MX Player with latest custom codec.. no DTS to my receiver
