guys really thank you for helping and for collaborating

as soon as I or any1 else will find a stable XBMC version please DO post it here,
even if some1 has managed to use a different android ROM it will be good enough.
its a shame that due to software issues we cant use XBMC

again, thank you for sharing your knowledge

I just received an email that Rockchip will release a new XBMC based on Kodi Alpha 4 with new H264 & HEVC support after their holiday(1-7 Oct) later next week, when they do some more tests. This will solve most peoples problem since it will be newer than SPMC and include HEVC support and the smooth H264 playback that SPMC has. It will then probably make it's way into their SDK and released in new firmware from the manufacturers. Most XBMC developers still don't have RK3288 devices, so that is also holding it back. It also seems Koying will start work on HEVC support for Rockchip according to the git pull request for HEVC.

At the moment I use SPMC, been playing videos for 5 hours and no freezing and playback problems.
Don't know why other people have problems? Hopefully there will be no more problems after the new firmware update once the beta one(9-30) is finalized from HPH.

It looks like the manufacturers and Rockchip are working together much better regarding firmware updates, since most RK3288 manufacturers now release frequent updates and use the same SDK from Rockchip, unlike some RK3188 devices that had no Kit-Kat ROM's and were plagued by kernel, video & boot problems.

If I get the link for the new XBMC before anyone else, I'll upload it.

From what I understand h264 is more software based ANC right now it max out the CPU all 4 in all 3288 chipsets to date, The codec has redesigned to allow more hardware encoding allowing CPU not to be maxed out?

I've been using gotham beta 3 for week and all is fine. Everything working streams fine going to load other roms this week but this is stock mk902ii rom. I going to flash blue and cloudnet. As mk902 has no drive support none of my zips work I can add it but will try some different roms. Been playing my minix5 but still playing with this box too. Very impressive out of the box so far.

If you use SPMC and play 1080p H264 videos, you'll see it uses less than 20% CPU, because it's hardware accelerated. Normal Gotham or Kodi will max out the CPU, since it's played by software, the CPU and not VPU.

Just reflash the stock system.img, and you'll get the stock XBMC without loosing your apps and settings or you can extract the xbmc from the system.img and install it separately.

I don't know why anyone would want to install the stock XBMC, since Rockchip is going to release an updated XBMC later this week. Don't know when it will reach manufactures.
You could rather try this version - http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/...rmeabi-v7a.apk also with HEVC support.

                          Anyone want a custom kernel?
Don't know what to add since it's already 1080p, tons of usb & ethernet adaptors are already included, no boot problems & already running fast.

I wouldn't mind having the ability to clock the CPU to 1.8 which I believe is the actual limit of this chip.

The 4G/32G units are out of stock I guess. I placed an order a week back but was informed that it will only be available for shipping by the end of this month.

OK, will see if I can do that.
Also noticed the CPU was 1.6 Ghz and not 1.8 Ghz when installing SETCPU.
