On the sound matter, it works now but only when i am using gotham latest ''stable release'' (tv off - radio keeps playing) for the rest with any player it still pauzes when i turn off / power off the TV. But if this one is working i am happy enough. I dont want to keep the TV on when playing the radio!

For the rest it works good, the video quality is nice. No stutter 'so far' with 1080p. But the box does get warmer it seems than with your old ROM (even with just running xbmc/radio) And i miss the wifi / settings box on the right low side hehehe.

V2 ROM Ready

Hi Guys,

I have just uploaded the new version of this rom. I fixed few bugs with the daemon and update the supersu and binary to latest version 2.01, install twrp recovery, added few more apps, remove the beyondxbmc as in kitkat the HW acceleration doesn’t work yet, change the default wallpaper to a simple brushed aluminium look, modified the Launher3.

Thank you for your advice in fact I like you I used this rom of finless smic or 2, but I'm looking for a solution to have kitkat to 1080p from me only because the kernel does not boot while d33 with those of smic I have the problem that also using the overclock kernel I do not ever correspond to the value of overclocking but still 1.4
I recommend you try it too this new rom to 1080p smic, the kernel you can try one of those that I just created with overclockomatic runs pretty well
although the report cpuxxx_gpustock_ddrstock the ddr is 800mhz try these with the rom posted above smic

Smic i am sending Infinity a radio i have in my basement it never shut off so he doesnt have to turn on tv ever.
kitkat uses less yes faster and when in xbmc look at what is used less better quality video and with simc rom some even sound fixed.
antutu scores like the end goal but its over all preformace beats jelly cream by yards. TOUCH DOWN

Hi scooter, how are you buddy? I think if you want to test the rom use a local file and play with mxplayer with hw acceleration. I tested all the kernels with 1080p high bitframe videos local and smb and plays beautifully... Af far as xbmc or any other app you can imagine that performance can vary... Xbmc has problems with kk on rk chips latest versions support better hw accelerations but some versions dont so videos will look crap. Look arownd there is a way to change the default player in xbmc... As myself im not too worried about xbmc because i dont use it ... But the inclused version should run fine... Ill run more testes after holidays... Tomorrow im finally going away 2 weeks... And im not taking anything with me that uses batteries or have any sort of chips....

Anyways i wish you all a great summer and hope to find you all well in September...

Hi Smic,

FIrst of all thanks for all the great work you've been sharing with all of us...
I just started trying out ROM for my MK902 after I've seen weird crashes with stock KK firmware...
So I've installed your ROM to check it out... So far it's been going great...
The only thing is that I can't seem to be able to detect the MK902 when I use my Client RKM Remote App which I use to navigate the MK902.

Im probably one of the few who hasnt invested in an airmouse because I found that the RKM Remote App was good enough . Can you tell me if you removed the ability to remote control using the RKM Remote App?

if so, do you have the Server App which you removed from the stock rom , so that I can re-enable to use it with my Client Remote App?

Other than buying an airmouse, what are my options?

Camera Image upside down

Hi Smic,

Thanks for the latest firmware!!!
I installed and started testing it (default kernel) and found the following issues so far, in case you are planning to make a new version):
- SPMC audio is slightly out of sync (can adjust with offset)
- mp4 files still not playing smoothly
- Camera image is upside down. - can it be fixed or need new firmware?

In your previous version the camera was ok, and installed beyond xbmc played well (except mp4 files).

This are the latest stable roms for the MK902. You have 1080p rom and 720p rom, extra kernels for each and for those who prefer one file update same as the stock you can download the firmware version of each rom.

On the rom side, I fixed few bugs with the daemon and update the supersu and binary to latest version 2.01, install twrp recovery, added few more apps, remove the beyondxbmc as in kitkat the HW acceleration doesn’t work yet, change the default wallpaper to a simple brushed aluminium look, modified the Launher3.

Beside the standard apps, the new apps installed in this rom are:

- Antutu – Benchmark app.
- Autorun – This app allow you to automatically start one or more apps when the unit starts.
- No-frills CPU control – Allow you to change the CPU max and minimum, and governors.
- Reboot by petrus – Updated to v 1.2.2
- SPMC 13.2 – XBMC for RK3188
- Terminal Emulator
- textdroider_dpi – allow you to change the dpi to a smaller or larger one.
- install TWRP recovery.


On the kernel side, I implemented the video shutter fix, modify the rockchip hdmi drivers so if it doesn’t mute when the HDMI is disconnected or in case the SOC detects your connection as DVI.

The kernels are now compressed, mainly to prevent patching not by you fine people but by company that uses the ROM made by the great devs from Freaktab. We put allot of work and hours into this ROMs and few companies think that if they download than patch the kernel with their brand its theirs, not fairs. So here are my terms for using this rom. As a private user and as a member of this page you can use the rom as you like, without any limitation what so ever, but I would appreciate if you leave my boot animation, it’s all I have to show after all. If you want to use the ROM commercially, you cannot remove any of the branding from the ROM and from the Kernel, you can use it as you wish but as it is, if you want to change it you can get in touch with any dev from this side only.


Now all that been said let’s get back to the kernel. I created 12 versions. The kernels marked h have only high frequency’s.

For example a kernel kernel_1.6_667 will have cpu 312, 504, 816, 1008, 1416 and 1608 and the GPU 664 and DDR 200, 266, 300, 400, 600, because the CPU can drop all the way to 312 when not used allow the unit to run cooler and more stable. The kernel kernel_1.6_667 will have cpu 1200, 1416 and 1608 and the GPU 664 and DDR 200, 266, 300, 400, 600, because the CPU will only drop as 1.2 as min speed the box will run hotter but you get more points on benchmark (not real performance).

hey mate, love your rom its awesome!!!

i flashed it on my cs968(same ap6210 as mk902), its running great!!

one thing though, flashed kernel 1.7/667, but no frills and cpu-z show 1.416cpu

i checked and the cpu is rk3188 and not the T version so its not locked

when i flash the rom,in kernel option do i flash the kernel straight from the kernel folder?or do i have to rename the kernel li want to kernel.img and place it in rom folder to flash?

the device does this recovery like boot at first after rkm logo and does formatting data\formatting cache and then boots up to your rom

Sorry just click on tab as side of kernel and select the kernel you wish to try from folder.

Just have to say tested it now spmc part sucks i couldnt get it working and has ver check and found it difficult to get to load?

love everything else about this one screen sweet the rom smooth loaded gotham 3.2 and running fine no issues yet.
running the 1.7 400 kernel but again cool no issues and like the re boot option. Very well done Smic again another STELLAR ROM!!!!!!!!
