Thanks for taking this over for me Brian!

900 makes some kick butt ROMs so it's really GREAT to have him as a FreakTab Dev here!

Now if I could just find someone to do all the Nextbook stuff! Those guys are in desparate need!

is there anything more recent than 1-204_Moage.com-U9GT2-4.4.1-A4.1 that I should be using as the basis of a ROM?

Watch out for the Moage releases. Back when I did the Ice Cube ROM I used the factory ROM as moage does a lot of tweaks I do not agree with! Ask many why my Ice Cube seemed better than the current moage at the time. Back then he threw in a lot of tweaks that are "known" to many but these tweaks are like pimp my ROM. Without good testing no telling what works well and what doesnt. So just warning you using one of his you are starting with a basis of changes you may not be aware of! Some good, some not.... My experience anyway.

            Thanks will check cubes site.

No JB rom that I can see, unless someone can point me to a JB ROM I may have to look at the moage ROM.

Okay 900supersport with the start, I could help you and Bob is right. There two version of moage jellybean on moage.com

The first one a good one for me with ext3 system rw. Fast and very stable, not too much to strip out, but it is first chinese and some of the chinese apps are of no use. You can try my rom as mod of these moage rom here

with ext4 and cwm 5.5.04 for ext4, but still no system rw It is faster then the original moage rom and I took out most of the chinese stuff and put some needful apps like google play in.

...and here is the new moage rom based on a oma7144 rom from xda

This rom has ext4 system rw, but it has only chinese language inside
It has a touch cwm inside, but the touch button won't work, it seems maybe a bit faster than mine, but couldn't test it well in chinese.

I would begin the first moage or maybe easier with my mod, if you like. The second moage rom seems on my first look inside a bit chaotic brewed together(sorry Oma7144), but the chinese mixed their stuff with omas rom as fare as I can judge that.

One extra issue is the moage site. You will get the download only with their little setup program and veryyyyyyyyy sloooooooooow. It takes about an hour for the download.
For the first version from moage is a better link here

for the second I could make an upload if you want.

The first moage rom should be based on an Yuandao N12 firmware. I don't know where you can get this jellybean. Somewhere in china, I think.

I'm curious about another fine freaktab release.

Thanks, you seem to have done most of the hard work already :-)

I'll see what I can get downloaded and take it from there. I don't have a U9GT so may be in need of a good tester.

                  1. all three ROMs use the same kernel
                  2. I'm unpacking the boot images from your ROM and the Moage with ext4 rw and will compare the init.rc between the two
                  3. the only differences I see are mount ext4 mtd@system /system ro noatime nodiratime
mount ext4 mtd@userdata /data noatime nodiratime nosuid nodev
mount ext4 mtd@cache /cache noatime nodiratime nosuid nodev
                  4. I was going to inspect your recovery but need to know how it's packed
                  5. parameters file has the same order for the img files as my Cube U30GT stuff. This is the same as Bob's CWM recovery so will use that.

                    1. yes :-)
                    2. I did this more than once without finding my failure
3.Yes, but changing to rw isn't enough to get a system rw rom - in my case
                    4. The recovery is packed as the boot.img: Change header and unpack with gzip
                    5. nice idea, maybe I'll check that bob recovery.img for my rom for system rw

                      JDfense

I've uploaded a very basic ROM kit consisting of Bob's Recovery, a copy of your system.img that I have created as a fresh ext4 file system and your boot.img, kernel.img and misc.img. I've included both your parameters file and Bob's.

All I am looking for here is that I have a ROM kit the flashes and boots with root. System will not be read write.

If this boots I'd like you to use rootexplorer or esfileexplorer to mount system as rw and confirm we can write to system. Once we have this I can look at boot.img for rw and init.d support (I assume init.d support not present at the moment) and look at any issues we may have with system.img.

                      ROM> Basic ROM Kit

my ftp seems to be misbehaving, i'll look at this tomorrow

I have checked your rom. At first you forgot the loader, so I took the Rk29loader ver2.28. Hopefully it is the right one for your rom.
Sorry, your rom looped too. Here comes the logcat - very short one

                              11:58:07.843 exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory 2 2) -

Left the boot loader out on purpose for the moment, it should be same as your ROM.

So did the it load to recovery then fail on the reboot?

Do you know if it completed the load of boot.img then failed on system.img?
