I tried it yesterday, it worked very well but, unfortunately, I still had this Netflix issue. I guess this new stick has something different in hardware.
    Thank you!

Hello SMIC! Is it possible to integrate RTL8723BS WIFI support in the Kernel?

      Comment

I just flashed v4 on my mk802iv ap6210. Everything works like a charm, great work!

I have one question, do I need to flash a kernel for mk802iv or is it safe to run the ROM as it is?
I mostly concerned about CPU/GPU/ram clock rates. I don't want to OC..

Hi smic717394! I really need a build of the the Kernel in your custom rom that support RTL8723BS WIFI (Like here : RTL8723BS) and include all video display frequencies :
          1920 x 1080p 60Hz
          1920 x 1080p 50Hz
          1920 x 1080i 60Hz
          1920 x 1080i 50Hz
          1920 x 1080p 30Hz
          1920 x 1080p 24Hz
          1280 x 720p 60Hz
          1280 x 720p 50Hz
          720 x 576p 50Hz
720 x 480p 60Hz) with VSync correction included. Please help really need it!

I have the 8723bs based MK809III and using this SMIC ROM. You should check out this thread:

Which you can find kernel.img by d33 to pair with this ROM to get Wi-Fi working. I have not checked all the modes. But 1920x1080x60p definitely works.

The downside is that BT does not work. I am still trying to figure out how to make it work.

              Hello!

              thanks for you help!

Actually I already took the kernel from d33. Wifi works well, but by replacing the kernel in the Smic solution we loose all optimizations he did into it. So if he could integrate it it will be appreciate.

For example: In Smic rom vsync problem is resolved. But resolution is directly into the kernel and we replace it by the one of d33. And i'm not sure d33 kernel include vsync fix...

Nope. I can't get CIFS working on any Kitkat ROM on any Android stick, stock or custom. From what I've read CIFS isn't supported in Kitkat. I started using the network feature in XBMC and used the advancedSettings.xml to enable samba settings to make it work well for network pics and video.

Xbmc is the reason why i need cifs, your solution with advancedsettings.xml is result for external caching, because xbmctorrent can't set cache location out of the local filesystem. Anyway a guy made cifs working on kitkat on rk3188 device, http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post241988

                      Hi guys,

This is my first ROM for the MK809III. I dont even have the MK809III to test it so I had to rely on you. Few members already test it with success.

This ROM is for the 809III with AP6210 wifi and bluetooth boards V2 and V3.

You have 1080p and extra kernels 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 in stock DDR or overclocked to 667.

                      The 1080p ROM

                      • Kitkat 4.2
                      • HD resolution (1920x1080) - 1080p
                      • 1.8V LCD support (to prevent flickering HDMI on some units especially the RK3188T)
                      • Proper root
                      • System debload
                      • Installed the following apps: AnTuTu Benchmark, Beyond XMBC, MX Player and Codec, Reboot, Text Droider dpi and YouTube
                      • VsyncFix - to fix the skipping frames on video playback
                      • DTS and 5.1 AC3 pass-through support
                      • Busybox and supersu updated
                      • Tcp tweaks added
                      • No-Frill cpu control

                      smic717394_809III_1080p_V4.4.2_ROM_V3

                      ----- New versión ROM: V4----

On the rom side, I fixed few bugs with the daemon and update the supersu and binary to latest version 2.01, install twrp recovery, added few more apps, remove the beyondxbmc as in kitkat the HW acceleration doesn’t work yet, change the default wallpaper to a simple brushed aluminium look, modified the Launher3.

Beside the standard apps, the new apps installed in this rom are:

                      - Antutu – Benchmark app.
                      - Autorun – This app allow you to automatically start one or more apps when the unit starts.
                      - No-frills CPU control – Allow you to change the CPU max and minimum, and governors.
                      - Reboot by petrus – Updated to v 1.2.2
                      - SPMC 13.2 – XBMC for RK3188
                      - Terminal Emulator
                      - textdroider_dpi – allow you to change the dpi to a smaller or larger one.
                      - install TWRP recovery.

On the kernel side, I implemented the video shutter fix, modify the rockchip hdmi drivers so if it doesn’t mute when the HDMI is disconnected or in case the SOC detects your connection as DVI.

The kernels are now compressed, mainly to prevent patching not by you fine people but by company that uses the ROM made by the great devs from Freaktab. We put allot of work and hours into this ROMs and few companies think that if they download than patch the kernel with their brand its theirs, not fairs. So here are my terms for using this rom. As a private user and as a member of this page you can use the rom as you like, without any limitation what so ever, but I would appreciate if you leave my boot animation, it’s all I have to show after all. If you want to use the ROM commercially, you cannot remove any of the branding from the ROM and from the Kernel, you can use it as you wish but as it is, if you want to change it you can get in touch with any dev from this side only.

Now all that been said let’s get back to the kernel. I created 10 versions. The kernels marked h have only high frequency’s.

For example a kernel kernel_1.6_667 will have cpu 312, 504, 816, 1008, 1416 and 1608 and the GPU 664 and DDR 200, 266, 300, 400, 600, because the CPU can drop all the way to 312 when not used allow the unit to run cooler and more stable. The kernel kernel_1.6_667 will have cpu 1200, 1416 and 1608 and the GPU 664 and DDR 200, 266, 300, 400, 600, because the CPU will only drop as 1.2 as min speed the box will run hotter but you get more points on benchmark (not real performance).

As usual, I hope you guys like it, and since next week I´m off in holiday, I may not be able to reply as fast but I hope you enjoy the ROM.
                      Note:

You have to rename the parameter before opening the
RKAndroidTool. Also please note that you can only flash the parameters when you flash the rom and not after so if you want to change the size you will have to flash again so back up your data.

Also When you flash the ROM do a EraseIDB before (dont do it if you just flashing the kernel)

After flashing with a different system partition (parameter) size than your previous ROM - you need to go to System -> Storage and mount SD card. You will get a notification saying something about "Damaged Memory". Open this notification, and format the SD card.

Thank you very much for such a wonderful ROM. It is working absolutely fine.

                        I am using MK809iii with RK 3188T, AP6210.

I have few question about it..
                        1. I have connected to my TCL 50 Hz TV and it is flickering.
                        2. What is the difference between V2 and V3.
                        3. V3 - It is get restarted frequently.
                        4. Both versions are not having option to change or mute mouse click / touch tone.

Please let us know once you have updated ROM.

Thank you very much again.. you are doing fantastic job...

The king is dead, long live the king.

Is what one might say if the 809III was indeed a king.

I decided to see if a custom rom (the one in this post came highly recommended) might fix the POS that is the stock 809III with a 3188 in it. So I followed the guides, installed the drivers and to my dismay. Nothing. However, being the smart bloke that I am I decided to just boot that sucker into recovery (custom roms on phones is old business for me).

Wrong. That damn android is just chilling there with his belly spinning claiming it's doing a system upgrade.

Edit: Apperatly it decided to boot again. But still no connection to PC. Tried the two micro usb posts, nothing. Must I use the Host port? (male to male usb?)

                          And then nothing. Balls.

So boys and girls. What's going on here? The hardware reset button appears to not do anything and that green sucker is just taunting me.

Final edit: All is well in the land of aardvarken. The rom flashed after mucking about in some config files.

edit: too bad wifi is still flaky as shit.

Hey man! Try to pull the wifi cable outside the case and the WiFi signal is gonna improve...Just pull it gently , make a hole on the case side so u can close it and enjoy...My router is far so my WIFI was weak ,tried it and now it's perfect...

Maybe I'm wrong, since you don't mention which version of Windows you are running, but that sounds like a Windows 8 fail (apart from the WiFi issue). I keep a Dell Mini 9 around with Win 7 on it just for ROM upgrades. The RK USB drivers don't like Windows 8, as has been mentioned before...

Hi, thank you for this ROM, I have it running on an MK802IV and it runs smooth but I have one question, when streaming something, an mkv from a HDD connected to my network the video is a little dark and oversaturated, and when i'm watching a very dark scene i can barely make out anything. Is this normal? Are there some settings i can change somewhere? It doesn't matter what player I try, spmc, mx player...

                                Thanks!
