    Yes

    That is a good point

And for WiFi in sleep mode this is not a problem I got only 0.3% discharge ,deep sleep is working great
Just verify your advanced WiFi setting to set WiFi on only when charging

I have a WiFi only tablet

Unlike 1.6/1.7, tablets with 1.8/1.9 can be charged in both states

WoW! So it really does turn off while recharging!

Good news!! I will try reflashing asap

Dumb question (especially because I have already flashed with success, but I cannot really remeber what I used back then): shall I use the usb "host" or normal usb port for flashing????

          Normal port

              Thank You,

I succesfully re-flashed to 1.9 and everything seems really smooth!

Now... overclocked kernels... Forgive my sound ignorance, but I do not know default frequencies for cpu (1,6 Ghz for every core?) ram (633? 667?) and GPU (533?)...

Thus I cannot decide which version of ur kernels try to flash... my "needs" are a little bit of "smoothness" in normal app operations with, if possible, same ore more battery duration...

Which one(s) should I try? I have read previous messages, but, lacking the above informations, I cannot decide.. any advice would be really apreciated, and useful not only to me, I guess...

                It depends on your tablet
The more powerful and with more batteries is with CPU 1704 DDR 728 and with low in the name GPU is always stock value.
If it is stable you can use it. Or with CPU 1608 that is stock value

If it not stable decrease DDR for example 667 (like me) or increase voltage (no low in name)

For very unlucky tablet try my last post with test in name

I have also modified boot.IMG to change the value that was set for GPU frequency.

If someone want to test to see I can post here

It's difficult to verify because antutu always givee very different value each time

And sometimes fps values decrease for unknown reason !

Did you change that in boot.img...or kernel.img?

If so, PM me the setting and I can add that. I think it's in the kernel, though.

                      Thanks!

Let me see: stock CPU freq: 1608,

stock GPU freq: 600 (always kept that way)

ddr at 667 means little more "juice" on ram

                      low in the name: downvolted

I will try... and maybe await a little bit more seeing your latest finds, since it seems U and RRileypm are working on it..

The others change I made are in the boot.IMG not in the kernel, this is to tell to Mali driver to use the same frequency that are set in kernel.

All over clock kernel are downvolted
The 'low' ones more so maybe instable.

Yes DDR change are the bigger improvement. If you can go to 720 it will be the faster kernel but you can only to 667 to have even more battery and improvement compared to stock that is set to 560 if I remember.

CPU overclock is only useful in benchmark because the cpu rarely goes to the upper value

                          Thank You again!

Yes, now I have fully understood the thing... one more question before testing: should one kernel not work with my device or be stable and/or device not fully booting, what to do?

Reflash from beginning? Same procedure? connect device, get it into "loader mode", flash only kernel (without erasind idb) and restart?

Hi, when flash kernel just check kernel and select the file you want.

If it's not booting, you can go to flash mode by foolowing Randy's manual.:

Q: I can’t get my tablet into flash mode using the Flash Tool or RKBatchTool – What do I do?

A: All Rockchip tablets have a manual way to get the device into flash mode. It is a combination of pressing the external keys on the device. The exact combination of external keys vary between devices. For Pipo Tablets, I have made a thread in the Pipo section of Freaktab (sticky) called “Pipo Instructions for Manual Flash Mode”. Just open this thread and find your device on the list. It will give you the exact combination for your device. If you have a newer device not listed, just try several listed combinations until the Flash Tool sees your device in Loader mode.

for M8HD press the “ESC“&“power” key for a few seconds,no need of pressing reset key.

For me, I press reset key, keep it pressed then esc and power and release in the reverse order.

Then reflash only the stock kernel or another one you want to test.

                              boot.img to test

Hi, here is the link to boot.img that maybe improve the GPU

                              boot.zip

Unzip it and, Check only boot.img when flashing

If you can test the difference with stock one (I can't do for the moment) to see it improve something

                                Benchmark results

So I test my modified boot.img with the same kernel.

It appears that 3D test has a little improvement.

With Antutu, I see with Randy boot.img I've got an average of 4010 pts in GPU 3D test. (very near result)

With mine, I've got an average of 4150 pts (up to 4290 pts one time and not so near result each time)

And, when running test, I see that Fps has reached 21.7 FPS with Randy'one and only 20.9 with mine !

So I will let you experiment by yourself !
