    driver installed

So it turns out that the drivers were installed from the get go; However, connecting the device while powered on it would not register properly. The device manager showed no change OR it would list it as an unknown device in the usb serial bus controller tab. I kept trying to point the device to the drivers when it would show up. It would just keep telling me windows had determined the best driver had been installed. BUT when I decided finally to just boot into flash mode using PWR & Vol+ the device showed up as it should in the device manager. Also the primary flash tool listed it as found. So I went ahead with the instructions. I was able to erase IDB and then flash the rom successfully. Now I have a rooted Sero 8! THANKS!

I am running x64 Windows 7 Ultimate on an HP dv7-3080ca. I am not sure if the issue is with 64-bit Windows 7, the sero, me, or what since I've only had experience with this one device. It could just be the way the sero shows itself to a computer when connected with no usb options selected.

So yea.... Install the drivers. If it says they installed successfully but your device doesn't show up or you notice an unknown device DON'T PANIC! Leave it plugged in and press and hold PWR & Vol+ until you see it register as the rockusb device. You just manually booted into flash mode for the Sero 8! You'll notice the flash tool now says found as well! Your device will appear completely turned off(I thought I bricked it at first). Now that you've made it this far just follow the instructions provided. Erase IDB. Flash rom. ENJOY! ...And be free of any possible frustrations...

I did also go ahead and do the update just to test. I got the fallen android with red ! sign and waited for it to reboot. It said the update was unsuccessful and to try again. Though when I went to check for updates it said the device was up to date. Root was still active. **EDIT** The update did appear again. And again it failed.

Now to point users from other forums here. hopefully this will help some.
Thanks Jedfedfur. After following your instructions, I have the drivers installed. Now, PWR & VOL+ does not get me into flash mode. The flash tool is not recognizing the device. I am doing this with the tablet off as you instructed. Also I don't see where to erase IDB. Thanks much.

Edit: "found erase IDB" Also, I think I am in flash mode, but the flash tool still does not see the tablet.

      (DEPRECATED, USE v2 INSTEAD)

Extract this zip(https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5mb3cMYjZWicmlTRGVhWXppSXc/view?usp=sharing) to the root of the RileyRom Folder and run "InstallDriversAndRebootFlashmodeHelper.cmd" and follow the prompts to help get the drivers installed and reboot your tablet in flash mode. Remember to enable USB debugging for it to be able to reboot into flash mode for you. After that it would open the flash tool for you, where you can "Erase IDB" and flash the ROM. Hope this helps you guys!

AndroidFanatic, no luck. If I select 1, it says "the system cannot find the path specified." Hitting enter puts you back to the 1 or 2 selection. Hitting 2, says "error: "device not found" and then it closes. I enabled USB debugging and tried with the tablet running and with it shut down. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the help.

edit: device mgr info on driver: class of Rockusb devices/rock usb device. Driver provider Fuzhou Rockchip 8/5/2013

You were supposed to extract to the same folder as RileyRom and then you were supposed to select option 1 to let it install drivers. After that you were supposed to select option 2 and you were supposed to keep tablet on after enabling USB debugging to let it reboot device in flash mode. After that you would hit enter to let it launch the flash tool. Hope that solves your problem! Make sure you have your device plugged in and make sure you DON'T run this script as administrator if your still having troubles!

I am extracted to RileyRom. I have tried every combination and still get the same results. After selecting 2, I get: Now we are going to open flash tool for you. You may exit after it opens. "Rom_flash_tool_137.exe" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Press any key to continue-- then it closes. Thanks

Did you accidently delete that exe.

The .exe looks fine. Should the Rom_flash_tool_137.exe be in the RileyRom folder?

Yes that exe should be in that folder. You only extracted the contents of that zip not put it in it's own folder right?

I extracted the file to RileyRom which is a folder in the 1.3 download. The .exe is in the 1.3 download and not in RileyRom folder.

No I meant the root of that 1.3 folder I'll edit my initial post on this to reflect that! Apologize for not being more specific initially hope that clarifies what I meant now my script should work as intended. My apologies.

Started over and flash tool opens, but does not recognize the device. I did this with usb debugging checked and tried to reinstall the drivers with debugging unchecked. no luck. I will get it eventually.

Post back if there's still problems with the drivers and post back if you figured it out which may help the people who only read these threads.

I attempted the installation on another win7 32 bit computer and it will not accept the drivers at all. The drivers must be the problem.
