now since twrp is working (that i know of) how do we begin building and flashing roms?

I know this thread has been focused on getting TWRP working...but as the title reads...this thread is for the RileyROM for this tablet.

Simply download the ROM kit and read the First Time User's Guide for installation instructions.

I would save the working TWRP image to the RileyROM sub folder so you can easily flash it.

Since you've made a TWRP backup, it's important to mention that when you do a restore...only restore the data partition...not the system or any other partition from your backup. Your apps and data are stored in the data partition. If you restore any other component of the backup, you will overwrite the custom ROM with files from the stock ROM and you will loose root, or any other changes I've made in the ROM.

Yeah I'm sorry man, that was out of line, this is like the only thread where anyone is doing anything with this tablet.

              Sure, no problem.

One thing to mention is that you should flash stock recovery first. After first boot, go back and uncheck all of the boxes in the flash tool and only flash TWRP recovery (substitute it in place of the recovery.img) and flash just recovery without erasing IDB.

The reason for this is that stock recovery is required the first time to format all of your partitions. It will do so in accordance to the custom parameter file you have chosen. TWRP can't do this, so you must do it from stock recovery.

Yup TWRP is working with your ROM still installed! Because I had to swap the recoveries to get TWRP flashed I had to manually swipe to factory reset, after that I had to reboot recovery than go back, and reboot system. After all that your ROM was functioning with tarp installed instead of the limited stock recovery! Meaning less need for RK flash tools in the future. Thanks abdul_pt for getting TWRP fully functioning on the Hisense Sero 8!

This means that there could potentially be more ROM cooking for this tablet! And it will be easier for people to port Roms like CyanogenMod!

Hisense Sero 8 Reboot to Flashmode Helper v2.1 by [email protected] (Bug Fix)

This is an update to my version 2 script that fixes the problem of closing of all processes with the name adb instead of only the adb server --> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5m...ew?usp=sharing <-- This is the name of the improved helper script --> RileyRomInstallHelperScript_v2.1.cmd <-- use that in place of the old helper script! My apologies for not realizing a better way of killing adb server sooner! Hope that solves a potential problem that you guys may have ran into!

Please include this fixed script in your RileyRom rrileypm. Thanks in advance rrileypm.

I used a different usb jack and got rom/root. The driver is easily installed by deselecting usb debugging, turning off the tablet, and then hold vol+ & pwr, while watching "device mgr." You will see the driver install. Can someone tell me the way to get TWRP. I still have the original recovery. Thanks.

edit: ok I found the post-how do you swap the recoveries? I tried flashing the recovery with the flash tool and it did not work.

In the Riley rom folder rename the current recovery something like recovery1 then drop the twrp recovery in there and rename recovery, open the flash tool, uncheck all the boxes besides loader, parameter and recovery then select flash rom

Can you tell me where to get the TWRP recovery file, that I need to drop in there? Also, not sure how to drop it in there. Thanks

It's on post 196 of this thread, just drag and drop

In the flash tool, there are little browse boxes you can click...to the right of each ROM element. Just click on the one next to the recovery line and browse to wherever you saved the TWRP file and select it. It would be a lot easier if you save the TWRP file in the RileyROM folder in the first place.

Put your tablet in flash mode by either clicking "reboot to flash" or using the reboot app on your tablet...or by using the external keys.
