My experience so far is not good ... I get random reboots or hangs all the time ...

Even though it seems crazy fast when it works, it does not work reliably at least on my box ...
I am guessing this happens because of the different hardware used in S89's from batch to batch ..My box might have different internals than the one of Stane ...

I think the question is not "whats missing?", but "what do you want to use the box for?"

In my personal use case and opinion, android on the box is fun lets you do a lot of shit but in the end I just want the box to play movies and watch tv - xbmc.

Using xmbc in android gives me: a few crashes, annoying notifications (email, etc - I know I can disable them, but hey!), short but systematic sound blackouts, streams only playing sound and no video, soem unexpected shutdowns, ... a headache
I was 1 click away from putting my S89 on sell.

Edit: At least one thing android xbmc can't do is to adjust the screen rate to the movie rate. Might not seem important but makes a difference if you like to watch a movie as you suppose to (and not like a soap opera frame rate piece of crap - even more now that tv do frame interpolation)

Automatic refresh rate changes??.. Wow - I'm on this as soon as the de-interlacing problems are fixed. Fantastic work!!!

I'm going to waive goodbye to Android until we can dual boot.

yes auto frame works perfect watched many 24hz movies now makes such a difference to watch a movie the way its intended.

i totally agree with pyns opinion.
a cheap and fast xbmc player is the best.

so stane1983 my question is about the remote. is there support for the internal ir ?

Another question: is it possible to backup manualy the userdata folder or with xbmcbackup add-on + setting manualy from the android xbmc version to the linux version ? Or do i have to configure it completely again ?

Yes the internal IR works great, but unfortunately CEC is not supported (yet I hope)...

                    oh this is great.
i have to play that in the evening.
is there also a remoe.conf file to edit the ir commands?
is the configruation of AMLinux very different than Android?

As far as I know xbmc config files are the same for all platforms (windows, linux, android, ...)

Ohh, that is not xbmc config related... It's linux IR config.

correct me if I'm wrong. It been a while since I've messed around with xbmc, but I believe that xbmc uses keyboard.xml to keymap. i believe that xbmc.org has a keymap editor in its repository.

Sure but what i do in this case is changing the IR code on the system to use another remote. Because the remote which comes with the system is not my favourite remote.

so i will test that by myself.

waiting for a new Version of AMLinux which can boots into recovery.
