Can you please get one for me
Back in late June, when they announced they were giving developer boxes to developers, I emailed them and asked for one. I told them I was NOT a developer, just been trying to find the perfect device to integrate Live TV and PVR into these android boxes. I never heard anything from them, just figured they tossed it into the garbage. Two days ago a package popped up on my porch and it was their ADT-1 box. I was shocked.

Thanks for the info! The Beelink R89 really shines on playback, just what I was hoping for. EPG delay could still be an deal breaker with my 107 channel setup. I think they are looking into at XBMC. Windows/Linux XBMC brings it right up.

      Google

Live TV inside Android TV looks like an afterthought, not interested. The XBMC you loaded doesn't look too bad on Google's Tegra 4 box, mpeg2 is probably done by the cpu on this box. I wonder how much they are going to lock down Android TV in retail devices?
Talas explained it very well. Live TV streaming is the main function of the new Google TV.

You are correct about EPG loading delay. Even on my Vega S89H the load times for the EPG was a little slow, this R89 box is much faster loading the EPG from my Synology NAS. My EPG consist of 12 days of data from 32 channels and about 10 of them HD Channels. It takes less than 20 seconds to load my guide data on this R89 box.

As for the R89 it really is a great streamer and should be perfect for most peoples current needs and wants..with a little more updating to do.
Android TV IMHO is nothing more than an attempt at a standardized streaming platform with Google Playstore gaming . No camera or mic support.

I want a TV box like the Beelink R89 that is open to do whatever the user wants to do such as live tv/whole home dvr access/streaming/gaming/local media playback/video calling/web browsing. I realize there are known limitations with protected tv content and Netflix HD access but all the rest should be doable. Stable performance is the main issue. Once the box is setup, no one especially the wife and family want to fight the box to get it to work.

          Remote

I would really like to see Beelink/Oman and XBMC fully support a remote like the Mele F10 Pro. Mic for voice control, browsing/searching and video calling along with a full keyboard plus media playback controls would be highly desirable for a TV box controlled from the couch.

**Looks like Mele is replacing the Pro version with the Deluxe version. No mic so no voice, but there are other improvements. Sounds like this one may work out of the box except for gaming function.

I disagree, I watched all the videos and read up on Google's Android TV. The main focus is an easy to use streaming platform dominated by Google services with limited 3rd party support and gaming via Google play store. Live TV consisted of a channel lineup without guide no DVR with very limited supported hardware. I realize some of this may change but we know for a fact that Google is mainly interested in making more money for Google.

I think you said you have one of the Silicondust networked tuners, if I am not mistaken. Have you been reading the forums on the Silicondust forum? Lots of interesting stuff there.

There Will be Camera and Mic Support buddy as voice will be a primary for control If remote or smartphone isnt used.
Please Remember just as Android T.V wil use different chipsets there will be additions of varying features, you will see in the coming months.
As for the Mele F10 Pro it will be discontinued as its been replaced by the Delux which doesnt have the PROs issues.

not so bad, but sometimes some micro-stutters AND what I'm wondering in is, that I get the same video quality with or without hw-acceleration (with the cpu-usage is 10-30% and without it is 30-80%)...

I also check it with '14-(Helix)-xbmc-20140911-7f2a4b1-master-armeabi-v7a' but the same video quality as SPMC...

The same file tested with 'Video' (no audio), 'Video Player' (no audio) and 'MX Player Pro v1.7.31' (I started them via ES File Explorer) is crisper! Not much, but I can see it. And it seams that the colours are also a little bit better.
I only have a short look at it, but it seams micro-stutter free...

                          Supplement SPMC

I checked the same file at MINIX X8-H with latest minix xbmc (also by koying like the SPMC) and the same MX and get the same quality at both BUT also like the quality at SPMC at the R89... which means, in my eyes, the RK3288 with the right player wins AMD I hope, kodi will be able to support better hw-acceleration*...

BTW: if the file runs at MX (other player at this situation not tested) and I leave the HDMI-port at TV and at that moment I switch back to it, I lost my video signal and also the connection to PC so I can't do any dmesg at that situation..

                          EDIT:

BTW: if the file runs at MX (other player at this situation not tested) and I leave the HDMI-port at TV and at that moment I switch back to it, I lost my video signal and also the connection to PC so I can't do any dmesg at that situation..
                            ...
I find out, that this effect only happens, if I close MX (via ES File Explorer) and restart MX (via ES File Explorer)... at first run I can switch the HDMI without any issue...
I wrote a shell script which loops and write every 5 sec a dmesg to ext sd, which runs at terminal emulator at r89, but the last file is zero...

anyway I attaches the last 8 one, maybe you can identify something...

Now I do a harder way (every 0.5 sec a dmesg) and also a logcat till I lost the adb...
(This time the first 'leave and switch back' forces the crash during MX running with the same video; I also get at 'switch back' first a green screen)
