    OpenElec on EM8

    1. Flash the latest JustMe_1.3 Android version (I love the boot screen and especially like the logo in the top right - nice work sir!). I installed this from USB in recovery but presumably SD would work too.

    2. Change resolution to 720p 60hz

    3. Click on the reboot app and enter recovery

    4. Wipe cache partition & factory reset

    5. Flash the OpenElec JM b2 version via USB (presumably SD card will work too).

    6. Reboot, stuck on the M8 logo.

    7. Enter recovery and do a factory reset & reboot

    8. Should now boot into OpenELEC, mine was stuck on a black screen but I found if I switched my AV receiver to another source and then back to the correct one OpenELEC was there and working - went into resolution settings and changed to 1080p. Streaming 1080p 5.1 video via wi-fi without any issues

GREAT WORK JustMe - this is marvellous (just need to work out how to get this standard square remote working now)
If you can grab the remote.comf from your box stock rom you should be able to copy to
Openelec and have the sane remote functionality.

      1. Boot into recovery (without SD card inserted) and do a factory reset.
      2. Boot into recovery by toothpick method (with SD card inserted) and the ROM should auto install, reboot, and boot into OE fine.

Let me know how you get on.
      Anyone tried this?

I think the issue is 720 res because I flashed with beta 2 over 30 times never had any boot lock ups. on original eny m8 with roundish remote. v0.92 and v0.91

my tv defaults to 720 anyway on new source then flicker to 1080 if needed

problem is hard to solve an issue that you cannot replicate unfortunately I don't have m8n h8 box people can donate if they like for future builds in andriod and openelec

was going to release beta3 with ssh fixed but since people still have issues with boot locks i may delay it and rely on memeber to test it for me

Thanks for the clarification, that was what I was thinking too. I remember manually re-writing some for the raspberry pi about a year ago which was a right PITA so hopefully this will do the trick. Cheers

I'm just downloading that file you linked to but am curious, what are the diffs between that and the one in the OP or have you just re-uploaded to make sure everyone is using the same rom as you got working?

I'm not entirely sure either to be honest. Maybe Lee can send you the file or post it here?

There's no difference to the actual rom zip. That is beta 2. I have just made it so it will auto install when the device is put into recovery. I had issues installing on my m8 (which I fixed somehow with beta 1, but cant remember the exact steps). But now I can get beta 2 installed no matter what rom or resolution the box was set to previously.

Three days of testing can save 10 minutes reading manuals
