Pipo_M6Pro_FreaktabROM_1.0, first impression

I took Maakie's firmware with d33's kernel and added:

Autoinstall
Boot Animation by Tatty
Busybox
Rooted with Koushik's Superuser
Added things to the ROM kit I've always added
Added TWRP recovery to install after first boot
Google Play Store fixes
Some Build Prop Tweaks
Added Multi-user Support
Added a bunch of parameter files
Added the First Time User's Guide

I've tested it on my M6

Hi all, my first impression: GOOD!

Install was quick and easy, a few remarks about this version:

After install, and the first reboot I got a Google services halted, Google play service need update.
It started installing Google Play Services v6.1.

After my restore of Apps and Data the Google mail widget I had on my homescreen was not working. (I use KK launcher)
After remove of the widget I could not add it again, because it was not in the list of available widgets.

I installed the Google mail app again, after that the widget was available again and I could add it to my homescreen.

AnTuTu again in the 24400-24800 range. Happy!!

I will keep you posted about how my apps are behaving.

I can confirm, Deep Sleep starts working after second boot.
So, directly after flashing, deep sleep does not work, but after the second boot, it does.
My M6Pro does the same.

GPS working good here. First time after installing I got a fix in 90 seconds. After running gpsfix app and rebooting, I now get a fix in about 30 seconds.

Now that you have more to work with, I want to report a chronic bug that is also present in Riley ROM 1.8.

There are certain Web sites that will always crash with the stock browser in this rom. I don't actually use the stock browser, but using it as a way to present this bug is easier. The app I actually have the problem with is greader, an rss reader that has a function to display a Web page.

I use rss readers a lot, and this bug is so irritating, because the workaround requires you to constantly switch back and forth between the reader and the chrome browser.

To recreate an example of this bug, open the stock browser and go to

http://www.talkingchop.com/2014/11/11/7197859/hart-expresses-doubt-about-a-heyward-extension

The browser will crash. Most browsers will crash on this rom with that Web site. However, the Google Chrome browser will load it.

I also tried this site with the stock browser on the 4.4.2 stock rom on my Samsung Galaxy tab pro and it loads fine. It also loads fine with the stock browser on cm11 on my phone.

The logcat shows Chromium Web view errors.

Here is an excerpt, I can send the entire log if it is helpful. I think google has stopped updating Web view, but the version in these pipo roms must be different in some way from cm11 and the latest Samsung stock roms.

Only one thing, I wish the strength of the wifi signal could be increased? Had some problems with strength and speed of wifi. 5 meters away from router and only 1 bar, if lucky 2 and veeery slow speed. Removing The aluminium back and replacing it with one made of plastic solved the speed problem. Fast speed even though only 1 or 2 bars. Is it possible to make some kind og tweak in this rom to strengthen the wifi signal?

Hi all, I can confirm GPS is working when used with Sygic navigation.
Will check compass direction (N<>S) later.

Yeah, I know a few browsers work. But the RSS readers I use (especially Feedly, greader), don't display some pages within the app without crashing, I believe because the version of chromium web view built into this rom is either in need of an update, or somehow broken. Getting the RSS apps to work correctly is my main goal. I just used the stock browser in the example because it also uses chromium web view, and it is easier to recreate.

Maybe you got a bad download or a bad flash.
