Well, I finally got fed up of waitng for Cube to answer my phone calls and email and went ahead ant took the front off.

The good:

The glass came off pretty easily. I pried the edgewith my nail an inseted plastic cards all the way around the edge. After the front was off, I removed the film on the screen, which is a really thick matte screen guard, and the display looks fantastic underneath.

The bad:

My touch sensor on the back of the glass cracked in the process. About a 2mm crack, that extended to the entire screen with pressure.

So now I really do need to get int ouch with cube and see if I can get them to repair it.


A word of cation to those who might try this, the main body is attached to the front glass in the bottom right corner, so watch out for that when trying to get leverage on the glass.

It is good that you are not that far from a repair point.

So will you try to get parts and do the repair yourself, or if you do send it back ...is there a possibility they would put it all back together without the matte film?

I'm gonna try them first. I just hope they actually get back to me at some point. I've been trying for 3 weeks.

I'll keep you posted as to what happens.

A new firmware release happened on the 20th 1.06, in my case however apparently I can't upgrade via the wireless upgrade tool because it reports "Your system was damaged, wireless update is disabled!

Would this be because I have 'rooted' the device?

What if I was to do a local update, via the sd card?

I did get my sim card today and it does report that my sim is active and that it is making a 4g connection, however it appears I get resolve anything AT ALL.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: I FIXED MY 4G CONNECTION, it was the fail apn settings.

Would you recommend I trying to remove the film from my T9. Do you think it could be removed without cracking the touch sensor if I am extremley gentle.

It can be done, I just ballsed it up. Take your time and make sure you get the glue hot enough with a heat gun that you're not fighting to get it off, it lifts off quite easily then. Look out for the cable connecting the body to the front at the bottom right. And I would try to make sure you don't push anything too far in as you are prying it open. Keep within the bezel or you risk pushing glue past the edge and onto the back of the touch sensor.

It was a pain to find the edge on the film but keep trying and you'l get it. It's very thick and well attached. Make sure you are ready to put the front back on before removing the film so you don't risk touching the bare screen underneath.


As the fates would have it I tried Cube again today and they answered. Why they couldn't have before and saved me this messing about I don't know. I'm posting mine back and I'm going to ask that when they repair it that they leave the film off.

What kind of heat gun did you use and how hot? I don't want to melt to my lovely T9.

I removed the film, it doesn't appear to be anything more than something to protect it during shipping. It definitely improved the touch screen.

Riddick, are you refering to the film inside the T9 between the glass and the screen? If so what was the exact process you followed? Did all the disassembly and reassembly go smoothly without any damage?

Simple question. Was there actually a problem you could see with how the film was applied, as in..
Too much adhesive?
Applied unevenly, or crooked in some way?

I ask because if there was nothing seen that should be a problem; and every T9 has the film ...why isn't everyone seeing/having the grainy screen issue?

Surely Cube is building all the T9s the same???

What I am driving at ...is there actually a problem, or is this something some see as an issue and want it resolved, and others do not??

Now I can move jpeg files easily to my micro sd from my email. Prior to root, would not take.

Premature.
Still rooted, but my SD Card keeps disappearing. I thought the root would take care of that ..but not today!

Did I read of an issue with the T9 properly reading the add on card, or SOME cards??
