I've been using Finless 1.5a for a week now and overall it's working great.

WiFi still drops to 5MBps though. I've been trying to conenct an external USB->WiFi dongle based on rainlake's instructions but with no lack. Has anyone else connected USB->Wifi, does it work better that internal wifi?

        How did you succeed?

On 1.5a, internal wifi still drops to 5Mbps from time to time; so I totally give up.

Rainlake helped me get the rtl8191su driver for my old usb wifi (300Mbps), and it works flawlessly on 1.5 and 1.5a.

It sees a lot of neighbor access points. Streaming HD mkv videos from my NAS is smoother than the usb-to-ethernet adapter I have. Thanks to rainlake.

FYI, my wifi router is Belkin F7D4301v1 sitting just one meter away.

            bthoven,

I have got also a rtl8192cu chipset USB->WIFI dongle. Can you please verify the steps cause somehow I cannot get it work.

            1) put rtl8192cu.ko (or relevant .ko) in system/lib/modules
            2) make proper permitions and owner root:root
            3) disable wifi
            4) insmod rtl8192cu.ko (or relevant .ko)
            5) check dmesg, everything is OK
            6) put dongle on USB powered Hub
            7) enable wifi

If you want to get the dongle work after boot,
            8) rename rtl8192cu.ko (or relevant .ko) to rkwifi.ko in /system/lib/modules

Did you have to do anything to wpa_supplicant or any other file? init.rc?

NEW - MK808 Android mini TV Player - Finless 1.5A Custom ROM

              Hi Nasosal,

              Very simple steps:
              1. Disable wifi
              2. Use rootexplorer to copy rtl8192cu.ko into the folder where rkwifi.ko resides. Change permission as you did
              3. Rename original ko file to other name, and change your new ko file to rkwifi.ko
              4. Plug your usb wifi, no need to reboot
              5. Turn on wifi

As simple as that, no reboot, no insmod.

what about firmware for wlan-dongles ?
is it included in the xxx.ko file or has it to be copied to firmware-folder ?

Firmware is a bit of code that controls hardware.

I never seen firmwares stored outside the acctual hardware.

So no u cant change the firmware.

But u can add drivers to the system.

The Droidmote FAQs indicate that the uinput.ko module has to be loaded for the server to work. I have search the file system with Root Explorer and the uninput.ko is not present on my device. From previous posts, it seems some have been able to get Droidmote working. Is there an uinput.ko available How did those of you with working Droidmote get it to work?

                    Thanks,

Helllo, that's not the hole truth. Some devices load their firmware after they are initialized, e.g. my WIFI-Dongle.

ive had this running 12 hours now at 65mb no drops on 1.5a rom.
the stock antenna is a load of rubbish even unsoldering were i marked could improve the signal, better to remove the thing all together and place a simple wire on the ant pad.

Thanks. It is exactly what was in my case. Signal and GND were soldered together. Hope WiFi will work better now.

Guys uinput.ko is in the ROM. Many have said droidmote works!

Now, I will tell you if you found a droidmote server APK from a pirate site or not paid for, it WONT WORK! The developer has put a lot of effort into protecting his APP. So only way is to buy it!
