    1080 or 720 movies

    Hi,

just got my MK808, great device...downloaded XBMC, and playing TV shows, movies not, because of the bad quality, i have a 39 inch Tv so it looks pretty bad streched like that in lower qualities...

will this ROM fix the problem whit the video and audio lag, when i download and play a movie in 1080 or 720 quality?

    Best regards

      Re: NEW - MK808 - Finless 1.6 Custom ROM

Whewwwwwww!!!!!!!! Thought I was crazy.... So here is the scoop. Finally had some love with installing 1.6 on my MK808... only took 2 Days ,

      1. First off I had to use a PC that had full Power USB 2.0 (not my old dell inspiron 8200 laptop with 1.1)
      2. Then I had to go to the garage and dig out an old keyboard and mouse, which led to more box digging to find a PS2-USB adapter for my old Logitech track ball mouse, then more box digging to find a belkin 2.0 USB hub to plug both into the MK808 (NO....I REPEAT...NO WIRELESS KEYBOARD/MOUSE)
      3. I then had to boot up both MK808 and PC (did i mention drivers were already installed?) ha ha ha that was the laptop.... had to install drivers, no biggie.
      4. Had to make sure that USB Debbugging was OFF. and connect to PC was ON... Then into Storage/settings/usb mass storage was ON.... NOT enough.....had to check Media device then Check USB Mass Storage again.
      5. BINGO !!!!!!!!! All of the sudden the Rockchip Batch tool (Our Fearless Finless Bob made for us. KUDOS to you Mr. White) finally seen my device.
The rest is AWSOME!!!!!!!! Love the extra Storage, the power down button and the hide stat bar. Always a sure joy to taste Finless work.

Tune in tomorrow (as Paul Harvey would say) Now, for the rest of the story.

for the exciting conclusion of installing CWM recovery..... LOL

        ended up with 1.5a

        downloaded file mk808_finless16.zip
followed instructions, did not alter any options

settings gives option for bluetooth and says version is 1.5a unders 'about device'/'build number'

how have i picked up the wrong image file?

also note under settings/storage that NAND flash is empty (avail 4.37MB total 4.37MB) - can that be right?

still seems to work fine on the MK808 - thanks for all your work for us guys

Bluetooth in settings is just a part of Android that is used on other devices (MK808=no Bluetooth, MK808B=Bluetooth), it does nothing on the MK808 or the Original UG802.

The version number did not get updated in 1.6, see Bob's post #216 in link below (with advice on how to change it manually).

MK808s come with 8GB Nand but it's not all available. In settings I have Nand Total Space of 4.31GB and Internal Storage Total Space of 1.97GB on my MK808 running Finless 1.6 ( I assume the remainder of the 8GB is used by the firmware/system).

And now for the rest of the story. Using the RK flash util from Bob, I was able to install CWM recovery for the MK808 and all is well in the world again. Many thanks to Mr. White for all that he does and for having the patience to deal with the wide variety of flashers here on FreakTab. I also want to give a shout out to Riley, Neo, Supersport, and those of you I have had the distinct pleasure of working with. I look forward to many many Years of interaction with you fine flashaholics. Cio

Is it possible to flash the Finless 1.6 Rom via CWM

Hi Guys I just received my MK808 yesterday and had planned to flash it with the Finless Rom, mainly because it would be nice to have root access. However I thought I'd backup the stock rom (mk808_300j1_10-01-2013) before I started. I am very new to this stuff, however I had used CWM on my android phones before. So I went ahead and installed CWM and backup the stock rom. All good so far...

However when it came to flashing the Finless rom I hit a few problems...

Following the instructions in the Finless Rom Kit and at the "Found RKAndroid Mass Storage USB" I didn't get this message until I enabled "connect to PC" under the standard Android Settings\Device\USB menu (that is the only option in the menu) and in the stock roms 3rd party "settings\device\USB Computer Connection" to "Mass Storage" no other combination I could find resulted in the "ROM Flash Tool" "finding" my device. For me in Step 4 there is no obvious option to "Turn off Mass Storage" I have a radio button choice of MTP, PTP or Mass Storage - you have to pick one of them.

So I know that's not as per instructions but this the best I could work out....

So anyway, I thought I'd try and carry on with the instructions, but when I clicked "Reboot to Flash Mode" - I got "No driver" error from the "ROM Flash Tool". I am using Windows 8 so that might be part of the problem, I know this is skipping a step but I did manually install the driver from the rom kit. But I got a different error but still the device would not go into flash mode.

Then it clicked maybe this is because I put CWM on the device and that replaced the standard recovery, I can't flash the device using this method now?

So my question is, how can I flash the device with the Finless rom via CWM or if not what are my options. I have a copy of the original recovery but I don't actually know how to restore that yet. Or I am barking up the wrong tree.

              Thanks in advance...

Hi - Thanks for that! Yes I am now running Finless rom! So the trick for me was as Step 4 of Putting it into Flash mode

                    4) YOu should see at the bottom it says "Found RKAndroid Mass Storage USB"

                    I had too...

Turn off "Connect to PC", Turn on "USB Debugging", Turn on "Connect to PC" Turn Off "USB Debugging", Set USB Mode to "MTP" switch to "Mass Storage" - Press the "Reboot to Flash Mode button" if that fails repeat toggling of "MTP" to "Mass Storage" mode - for me it took 3 times until the "Reboot to Flash Mode" button worked.

But thanks the rom is now loaded. So fingers crossed I am in business. Thanks for your help. Its not exactly obvious so I appreciate you sharing else I would probably have thrown it out the window by now : )

OK Kididaho..... not that you know how to flash. Want to test my new 1.7 ROM?

I spent all week making it and I think this is the best one I have made to date!

So anyone that wants to test, PM me and we will evaluate. I want tester confident in flashing and really using the system.
