Thanks for great work
I want to thank you for this brilliant rom. I received my mk 808 a 15 days ago, and immediately installed your rom, everything works like clockwork.
It seems to me that the device is heated enough so that I will incorporate passive radiator or else device would not have lasted a month.
Thanks mate, because I'm having great fun...

Hope you're feeling better Bob! Can you help with any advice on this one, please? Really want to get some value out of this crappy Z2C device!

However, I'm having a really hard time with my Z2C (Zero Devices) stick, bugs in the stock firmware, surprise surprise, and of course the manufacturer incommunicado. I am told that this stick is a rebranded MK808 (not the B, no BT) and externally (other than the silkscreen) it looks identical, not that that means anything. But its possible that this device is the same hardware, rather than just a generic 3066 reusing the MK808 branding.
If that is true, I'm presuming that your ROM will work a treat. However, given it is likely their stock ROM is their own, I'm worried that flash/recovery mode, partitions, boot loader, etc might be sufficiently different that your flashing process and tools may not work.
Do you have any advice? I would really like to try your firmware, because the stock is essentially unusable (GPU clearly isn't accelerating much/any of the UI, the alpha-channel used in some of Android's menus isn't processed correctly so opening those menu's corrupts and leaves trails of artifacts all over the screen, but most importantly, not only does the wifi only sync at very low speeds, it intermittently just drops the network connection completely for many minutes at a time and often won't reconnect without intervention)

I was getting error “no such device or address” which I found was because I didn’t have cifs.ko loaded.
Having no idea how to inject cifs.ko working I came across finless 1.6, which had cifs.ko module add in release notes. Great
I installed the rom and so far I am loving it but I am still unable to mount my NAS with cifsmanager.
I am getting the same error and when I checked cifs.ko was not loaded and I could not find the file although TUN and MD4 ko files were there.
I had no errors when I installed the rom.
Do I need to reflash it or is the file hidden.
Help would be much appreciated.
I was hoping Bob Finless would be able to supply these kernel object files, since they need to be compiled from the same source he used for this ROM. But it seemed like I was the only one interested... Hopefully there are more people who can request this.

Bob
I might end up having to pick up an ODROID or something similar. I know the monitors HDMI still works because I plugged my tablet into it and it worked fine (with the MK808 HDMI cable, just to verify).

kernel source
Hi Bob,
Do you have access to the kernel source used for the 1.6 Finless ROM? If you can't provide the kernel modules for nfs, I can try to compile it on my own and provide it to this forum, but I need access to the source.
I noticed in your changelog for 1.6:
13) CIFS, TUN and MD4 KO modules were also added by request.
I see tun.ko and md4.ko, but no cifs.ko in /system/lib/modules/ Did you forget to include in the 1.6 package?
Thanks.Last edited by eecsdude; 06 February 2013, 06:27.

Status of 1.7 overclock and "CoWorker issues" with Alex
Bob-
I keep chacking back here looking for a v1.7 or better for my MK808, but have not seen any updates.
To me the most important thing is to get the thing past the locked 1.0 Ghz and apparently Alex's(2dark4u) rom with your code (like the 802 version 1.7) would allow me to do that. But, I just red elsewhere on your site that you and Alex have had a falling out , and likely then no 1.7 with overclock capabilities for my 808. So, can you give an overview of the plan for the 808 development - at least as far as overclocking ability goes? Thanks if you have the time.

I am try to access a SMB share on my NAS and I can access it through ES File manager but I would like to mount the share so I could access the files natively through any program as if accessing an SD. This is why I need cifs.ko and cifsmanager.
Thanks for the reply

As for kernel sources, most people making MK808 kernels are using this:
Bob"Pzebacz im, bo nie wiedzą, co czynią"
"Прости им, они не ведают, что творят"
"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

Root & ethernet
Love the ROM, just have a couple of issues. It was suggested the I reflash, and I guess I will, but thought I would post once more before all that. ( flashing means getting a windoz box setup and all that, which I hate
Root: For some reason I don't have Root. "su" is there, but it won't actually run. ( su doesn't get me a new su shell. su -c id doesn't show anything for example ) CheckRoot, Titanium, or any app that needs root to run come back and say they can't. SuperUser shows "denied" in the logs, regardless of the setting to grant/deny/prompt.
Ethernet: After every boot, the network isn't working. I have to disable and re-enable the ethernet connection to get an IP address from the router. Timing issue on some script? Assumption that wireless is enabled? ( I have wireless disabled because its plugged in to Ethernet ) That's pretty minor, but thought I would mention it, might be an easy fix for the future - maybe the assumption is that wifi is the default and enabled.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Just open up the 1.6 ROM flash tool and replace the "kernel" area with the one you get from 2dark4u's website (there's a thread here with a link).

After 11 days I got my mk808+rc11 today. Thanks to geekbuy for fast shipping.
I plug it on my LG TV for 15 minutes with stock ROM to see how it works.
Then unplug it and immediately install your ROM in less then 5 minutes, but didnt try it yet.
I read other posts and only I can say - awsome job Bob, and countinue your good work.
