Sorry your wifi does not work. Bottom line we need the kernel.img from these ROMs before people flash other ROMs!!!! It appears we are starting to see many variations of MK808 with different hardware.

I just have to say... WHAT THE HELL is wrong with the companies that make these and not release proper specs and ROMs to support customers? I am really starting to get upset

      Bob
Sorry Bob, I know you're going to hate me for this question, I understand the frustration for you!!

However, I'm having a really hard time with my Z2C (Zero Devices) stick, bugs in the stock firmware, surprise surprise, and of course the manufacturer incommunicado. I am told that this stick is a rebranded MK808 (not the B, no BT) and externally (other than the silkscreen) it looks identical, not that that means anything. But its possible that this device is the same hardware, rather than just a generic 3066 reusing the MK808 branding.

If that is true, I'm presuming that your ROM will work a treat. However, given it is likely their stock ROM is their own, I'm worried that flash/recovery mode, partitions, boot loader, etc might be sufficiently different that your flashing process and tools may not work.

Do you have any advice? I would really like to try your firmware, because the stock is essentially unusable (GPU clearly isn't accelerating much/any of the UI, the alpha-channel used in some of Android's menus isn't processed correctly so opening those menu's corrupts and leaves trails of artifacts all over the screen, but most importantly, not only does the wifi only sync at very low speeds, it intermittently just drops the network connection completely for many minutes at a time and often won't reconnect without intervention)

Hi Bob, 2dark4u has released yesterday version 1.4 of his kernel and looks very cool. Is it possible to use it with your firmware 1.6 ? I'd like to use 1.4 720p version but with your firmware and I'm not sure how to do it... or also, if you are thinking on building 1.7 with that version for us soon.

Anyway, thanks for your help and your GREAT firmware and support to this MK808 community.

I tried to map them properly in the Generic.kl file but it doesn't do anything. Is there another file for mouse button layout I could modify to unmap those keys?

Actually it is pretty easy to do yourself.
You will not loose any data etc etc.

Download that kernel. Go to the folder structure that Bob made to flash this and you will see a directory with the img files. There will be a kernel.img
Now what I did was to just rename that to kernel-old.img.

Next step is to copy the kernel from 2dark4u in that dir and rename that one to kernel.img.
Now start up the program to flash the MK808 and very important (first check if it is recognised) deselect all the things except the kernel and just press that flash button.
It only took a couple of seconds on mine since it is only 4MB big.
              ... you're done

                    Hi

I just installed this rom and everything works great except wifi,The reason I installed 1.6 was to improve my wifi, but its done the opposite,it is now worse .
I wanted to improve wifi so I can stream movies from my computer to the tv via mk808,but when I played movies the would stop and start.. bad wifi.
I read plenty to say that the stock rom had bad wifi and that this rom would improve it.
Before i was getting 2-3 bars, but now I am getting no wifi-2 bars and when its on 2 bars it is very sluggish and slow, play store wont load and internet takes ages to load up a site.
Have I done something wrong ? is there a setting I can change to improve wifi ? thanks

                    Oh the humanity !!

                    thanks

                      Won't flash

                      Hi to all.

I have the following issue. When I bought my MK 808 a few weeks ago I successfully installed Finless rom 1.6 which I had running until yesterday. Today I resolved to install Linux Picuntu so I followed (I guess wrongly) the instructions and flashed the Linux kernel with Finless flash tool substituting the original recovery.img with picuntu custom and unticking all the other options. Most important I did not erase the NAND. So Android booted well but when I rebooted it in recovery mode to start Linux it wouldn't work so I plugged it back to the PC, erased the NAND but after that the flash tool ran a test and said "Test device failed" and left the device in flash mode.

I then downloaded the original firmware and successfully installed back thinking I could roll back to 1.6 but it keeps giving me the same error although I follow all the instructions: plug it to pc, erase to NAND and hit "flash rom". It is the same error: the flash tool erases the NAND and when I want to flash it reboots it and fails to do so giving the message above.

Is there anyone who has ideas on how to solve the situation? I have tried the 1.5A but with the same result.

So technically it is not bricked since it runs the original firmware but I liked Finless version better.

                      Thanks.

Might sound stupid but I realised that the device is like a directional antenna. As soon as I pointed the end with the USB port towards my router, I had amazing reception. Might want to try it out.

Thanks for the info. The approach of creating different files with USB ID is great. Though the solution is only a workaround that maps actions to other buttons. Things I already did by editing Generic.kl. This topic is also discuss here: http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechfo...php?f=29&t=148

Actually, it is not necessary to rename and put the kernel file in a specific folder. You can just click the square on the right from kernel line in the flash tool and then browse your file wherever you have it.
