    OK, more tests...

1.7a with everything from stock rom except system.img = slow speed

Stock rom with everything from 1.7a except system.img = fast speed

so according to my tests, the problem relies on system.img

this also happens if I use 1.6 system.img and the rest from 1.7a

OK well all I can say now is FORK IT!

I have tried everything. I cannot reproduce what you FEW folks that have speed issues have. I have tried everything.
      1) Using all drivers and binaries from 1.6
      2) Kernel from 1.6

There is something else going on and it must be variability on your end. What that is I cannot troubleshoot myself as I cannot recreate any of these issues on my real MK808.

Let me remind you that some people that used 1.7a reported the issue was fixed and have not been back to report further.

Sorry... I did my best to help but alas, since I cannot reproduce this myself, something else is going on which I cannot explain.

Sorry to see a few of you stuck on 1.6.
I give up for now. I feel I am chasing a ghost!

No problem! Thanks for trying anyways

1.6 with a few tweaks is still an awesome ROM and I am happy to use that one for now

I will keep testing stuff around and if I find something else, I will report

Is it possible with the 808B ROM to disable the internal Bluetooth so that an external USB Bluetooth adapter can be used? The Bluetooth range on my device is pretty horrible. When I was running CM9 on my MK802, I could use an external USB Bluetooth dongle. At any rate, that's why I'm wondering if this is possible w/ the 808B ROM..

            Thanks!

Thanks for the great 1.7 rom.
              Works great on my MK808b.
Also helps to have a powered USB hub - all the mice, controllers, keyboard are better.

Thanks for your tremendous support for Rockchip devices, Bob. You're da MAN!

I never saw a difference in wifi speeds between 1.6 and 1.7 on my true MK808. Ghosts indeed. My MK808 has an adjustable router antenna replacing the OEM printed antenna. A fraction of an inch movement can drop my download speed from 11.5 Mbps to 6 Mbps or even 200 kbps.

It is for sure something related to the last Minix Neo x5 firmware, i have the same slow wifi with 1.7a and the Hybryd FW V2.1.2 by lewy, both with the same 2dark4u kernel. For the moment i'll go back to 1.6.

                    Hi,
Thanks Bob for your work. I would like to know is there anyway I can permanently disable the "hide icon" on the navigation bar? This is crucial for me as I set up this up for my family who aren't tech savvy and the nav bar getting disappear would just confuse them, especially with some app like XBMC it cannot be restored until you exit the app.

You can restore by moving the cursor down and do an "up grab"
btw If I remember well you can set it on the settings menu.

I have to agree. Unless you are testing under full test condition you can’t realistically determine what the issues are. At these frequencies and power outputs just moving your body can have an impact on the TX- RX signals, not to mention multiple reflections, TV senders, Microwave Ovens (even your neighbours two doors down), next doors router. Need I go on?

At the end of the day it is a perception and for me, the perception is that 1.7a is the most stable of the ROMs out there and for that I would like to thank Finless.

                              hi,bob
i flashed my mk808 with 1.7a,but the wifi was still slow down from 65MB to 5MB
And i found when i set the wifi option(the RKBasicsettings.apk) in the new launcher the wifi speed would stay in 65MB
i'm sorry for my bad english!

                                Hi;
I am not sure if this issue has been brought up before or not, but I have flashed 1.7a recently, and while everything works fine, I am getting a lot of buffering on youtube hd.
I don't believe it is exclusively a wifi issue, as my internet speed is otherwise ok. So do you guys think a different kernel will potentially solve this issue ?
                                Thanks.
