    mk808 wifi issue with 1.7a

If this can help you Bob:
upload speed remains normal, it is only download which drops down A LOT!
Just flashed 1.7a, same thing as with 1.7
I don't think it is my device, everything was working normally with 1.6 and it still does with Picuntu.
Otherwise, some great improvements in this ROM, congrats, would be really pitty to go back to 1.6.
    Cheers, Goran

I have tried everything. I cannot reproduce what you FEW folks that have speed issues have. I have tried everything.
    1) Using all drivers and binaries from 1.6
    2) Kernel from 1.6

There is something else going on and it must be variability on your end. What that is I cannot troubleshoot myself as I cannot recreate any of these issues on my real MK808.

Let me remind you that some people that used 1.7a reported the issue was fixed and have not been back to report further.

Sorry... I did my best to help but alas, since I cannot reproduce this myself, something else is going on which I cannot explain.

Sorry to see a few of you stuck on 1.6.
I give up for now. I feel I am chasing a ghost!

1.7b system to fix wifi slowdown

OK folks here is the new 1.7b system.img

Go into my 1.7a ROM kit and in the FinlessROM folder rename system.img to system.old or you can just delete the old system.img.
Unzip this and put this system.img into the FinlessROM folder.

Reflash the ROM erasing NAND. We want a clean install for testing.

I am pretty sure this will fix the wifi this time.

        Bob
Is this only affecting the MK808? So, there is no difference/change for the MK808B ROM?

I have noticed that using a USB Ethernet adapter is extremely slow - even slower than WiFI for me.. But, this could just be the nature of USB Ethernet adapters.

Bob, I think you have fixed it!
Clean install, nand erase, flash rom - all back to normal. At least on first run.
I'm so sorry, would have donated but paypal is not available from my country.
                MANY MANY THANKS!!!
                Goran

PS In a rush forgot to rename RC3 recovery so tried booting to Picuntu (pulled out SD card so it couldn't). Then I had to stick the pin, which is real pita with two hands only Anyhow, it was worth it, cheers

Some cheap USB adapter on the market are fake and only comply to USB 1.1 and will give you KBps rather than MBps speed range. I had to replace mine after wasting $9 on Deal Extreme... What a ripoff.

Can you run the following command and locate the ethernet adapter?

                  lsusb

                    YOU NAILED IT!!

1.7b system.img copied directly over the 1.7 system.img and wifi is FAST

I sent you a donation, not much, but I hope I can at least buy you a beer!

If you recently bought it from DX, then I must dissapoint you my friend. They are no longer equipping them with ASIX AX88772B chip. Sorry, no love for you

Here is a post on another forum where the guy sais that he had taken in appart and found another cheap chip that causes the slow speed. As for me, I was more lucky as I went for a black version of the same adapter...

I never had any wifi speed problems, but I tested 1.7b anyway. Call me a control tester. D/L and U/L speeds remain high. Signal is strong and steady. No problems observed. Kudos, Finless Bob.

Yes I am aware of that, however, I wish there was an option to be able to get rid of the "hide tray icon" permanently.

I guess I can try to copy over the framework from the original rom, maybe the setting is in one of the xml file in the framework-res.apk

Cool! Glad I was able to fix it

                              Finally!

As for hide bar icon. You won't be able to change that by just copying framework!
You will need just about everything from the framework folder as they all work together.
Then the status bar stuff is in systemui.apk

They proper way is to take apart that apk and edit it!

I've just flashed Finless 1.7b for MK808 and it's great...no more buffering and it's smooth, stable and quick.

                                Thank you!
