Won't go into Flash Mode

Could use a little help. MK808 no matter what I do I can't get it to go in flash mode, I've tried following the instructions for the 1.7 upgrade but the flash tool doesn't see the MK808. I tried booting it using the paper clip but none of my PC's will recognize it. If I go into settings and check the connect to PC my computer will see it but not the Flash tool. Help Please.

Did you install the drivers on all the PC's you tried?

There are two steps, per Finless Bob's Readme file.

1. Get your PC to recognize your MK808, then install the drivers. Once the drivers are installed, and your PC recognizes an RK30 device, reboot both the PC and the MK808.

2. Get the MK808 into flash mode (where the ROM flash tool says "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb") either with the software options or the paper clip method. The paper clip method is the only one that has worked for me. I've used it on my MK808 and three MK808Bs.

That's the one.. I connected it to a PC and still only got 5-6 mbps. Not only that, it apparently is power hungry. It would not work on my USB-powered hub with just a Logitech unifying receiver on the hub.

But after I was playing around, it still seemed like USB perf was kinda slow w/ things like flash drives and such.

I hope this is not the one you speak of, if I wasted my $ too

Some cheap USB adapter on the market are fake and only comply to USB 1.1 and will give you KBps rather than MBps speed range. I had to replace mine after wasting $9 on Deal Extreme... What a ripoff.

Can you run the following command and locate the ethernet adapter?

lsusb

This is the 2nd one I have had... both got 5-6 mbps speeds. It's definitely disconcerting..

Which one did you buy as a replacement? What sort of speeds are you getting?

MK808B crashes / resets waking from sleep. And many thanks for the updated roms.

Just wanted to join the forum to give a big Thanks to Bob for all your hard work in tweaking roms for this device.

First off, just want to say this device is so awesome. And thanks to the community for making it even better.

I ended up buying three of these, one for my parents, and another one for my inlaws. This device was the solution to what I wanted to do for the longest time. I've been hooking up my android phone with HDMI out the TV before this. It worked great since there is a touch screen, but not easy for the elderly. The MK808 made it so much easier. My father-in-law had a Roku and Apple TV, neither could stream PPTV. I got all of them on Finless 1.7 roms. One of the new ones on 1.7b. They all work great.

Not a big issue since these things use little power. But my MK808B does not wake from sleep properly and crash/reset upon waking from sleep. I setup the two MK808 with sleep in 30 min and WIFI to be on all the time. The MK808 wake up fine and wireless and everything is working. For the MK808B, same settings, I tried turning off the bluetooth and it still wakes up, and then crashes/resets. I also notice the blue light does not go off when the MK808B goes into sleep mode compared to the MK808. Bluetooth and Wifi are both working on the MK808B. For now, I turned off the sleep setting and everything is working fine.

Don't know if anyone else ran into the same issue?

Me too, i have the same issue, i just bought a MK808B original and flashed Finless 1.7 (which is awesome) and when it goes to sleep mode, I can wake it up with my remote but it freezes or reboot. I dont know why...I also installed a sleep mode switch, its working great but i cant use the stick after that.

I don't know if there's a fix or something...

Hmmm.... I have a MK808B Sunvel clone and it does not crash when waking from sleep BT on or off.
So this is probably some bug related to kernel for the MK808 Original possibly. I will look into it.

Did the 1.7a for 808 get pulled? I get a 404 error from my PC and Phone. I thought I could just do the system.img update to 1.7a. Is a full upload of 1.7b going on and thats why I cannot access it?
