i was talking about rom modifications for dts and dolby (i mean is there a difference between v1.0 and v1.1 rom ?) because in v1.0 the dts and dolby are only supported in kodi.... so did you modify v1.1 rom to have dts and dolby in any player? blessings....

But for normal 720p or 1080p video playback, Mediacodec will do just fine.

MXPlayer uses it's own codec, so it is independent of the Android system.
You can also try BSPlayer with it's own custom codec that is different than MXPlayer and see if dts and dolby work with it if it doesn't work in MXPlayer.

What resolution are you using? And what HDMI cable, do other cables also cause this problem?
Did you fully erase your device and flashed again, leaving it a few minutes before unplugging?

Have you tried flashing the v1.1 ROM after flashing the v1.0 one?
The new ROM uses newer code so maybe there are components in HTC devices that aren't compatible with it.
I'll try using older code or packaging the ROM differently and see what happens.
Does flashing finish correctly and you leave the device plugged into the PC for around 5 minutes before disconnecting it?
My device is RKM V5 which is 16GB
The flashing went correctly and i waited 30 mins before disconnecting , i repeated flashing 3 times every time with same black screen
I disconnected and reconnected the hdmi cable but the result was the same black screen
I will try flashing V1.0 first then 1.1 and see what happens , all in all i am very thankful for your efforts you are doing for the comunity

A TV box has HDMI and AV output while a stick only has HDMI Output and lower frequencies for the hardware to help it not to overheat while on a tv box it's clocked much higher.
Also some tv sticks have different power management chips with different drivers that might stop it from booting if not found.
I'll try to make a separate ROM for TV sticks later.
Can you provide a dmesg from terminal app on a rooted stock firmware, so i can just make sure about the hardware inside the RKM V5.

I have the same problem with ugoos ut3S/32gb : sometimes tv screen goes black and then go back. Using firmware 1.1. I'm sure about my hdmi link and cables.
ugoos is directly connected to the AV system with hdmi passthrough on in android. Note : After flashing 1.1, i've also flashed the part for ugoos box (fan/cpu overclock). Was it necessary ?
on another side, this firmware is really excellent, I can now have a fonctionnal ac3/dts passthrough. It was not working with the ugoos 3.0.1b firmware (ac3/dts drop out)!
a really good job ! thanks for sharing
New test :
TV screen doesn't go black and return now on playing when Acceleration RockchipCodec is disabled (Mediacodec is ON and hardware 23976 RockchipCodec is ON)
So problem seems to have something to do with RockchipCodec hardware acceleration enabled.
This test was done on a 1080p/50Hz file while android box was set up as 1080p/60Hz and kodi option is adjust frequency on start/stop on playing.
Another test :
When disabling the RockchipCodec acceleration, 3D auto change mode is not working while starting a 3D movie
Does it has something to do with Dynamic refresh rate sync ? Where can we check this option ?

It must be Auto resolution in Android Settings & automatic refresh rate switching in KodiNTMC on start/stop
Then it should work correctly.
Or you can leave it at 1080p 50/60hz in Android Settings but then disable auto refresh rate switching in Kodi.
Then it should also be better.
But keep RockchipCodec enabled.
Also 23976 RockchipCodec won't work with Mediacodec, only with RockchipCodec enabled.
You can keep 23976 RockchipCodec disabled if you don't play any videos with 23.976 framerate.
On my v1.0 ROM I also got black screens when Kodi switched back the resolution after playback finished.
I managed to fix it by setting Android resolution to 'Auto' but old TV's might not work with it.
But it was fixed in the new Kodi included in the v1.1 ROM(There were more resolution switching frequencies for 1080p/4K added).Last edited by mo123; 09 November 2015, 11:51.

In Android, when setting to Auto, it then goes to 1080/60 (doesn't stay on auto). Note : my box is directly connected to the AV via HDMI, not on the TV. Then, still no luck activating the Rockchip acceleration.
In Kodi, if I set in Video/Adjust refesh on No, then problem is still there, even when I set the 1080/50 in the Android settings.
So I can't leave the RockChip acceleration on

If the resolution stays on auto it works correctly, it shouldn't jump to 1080/60hz.
In your case you can try using this Kodi - it should work better for your needs - here
Will have to uninstall NTMC first.

Does the kodi version you're refering to include the rockchip acceleration ?
Thanks for your help
