I just received my Q box and I must say in early testing all is good plus the Kodi installed gives you the option to install addons or pass if you prefer not to which should calm those in the pure Kodi community.......... with exception of the light show which can be disabled via the remote this is a very nice looking device.and I have to say this thing is bloody fast.............pop pop pop

    cheers,
    Vec

Good to hear. Now, that pop pop, you're going to want to look into that.

Seriously though, I do like the option to pass on the add-ons.....and the light show...for those rare times when I don't feel psychedelic.

Well that is interesting, maybe in the new firmware ? , that i am yet to load, sometime this day
But yet it's a nifty zippy little box.

And yes I can confirm the new firmware does let me control the LED and OFF with info button,
That would mean my remote with Info button could be a collectors item.

They have also removed the sound from the boot animation, a good idea as you would I think get tired of it at startup all the time.

          Cheers
          Few Questions:

I got the ROM from geekbuying - thanks for the update on that
I know this is a general "No-NO" but are there other boxes which are similar which we might be able to use their ROMs on this box/? M8S ? Mxq Pro+ ?

Anyone know how to fix the Softkeys/NAV keys on the bottom - keep them on screen rather than the default which it disappears?

Also, has anyone noticed that apps do not run in the background with this box? I was downloading a torrent via VPN (PIA) while messing with KODI and at times the VPN would stop working or the download app would stop as well when I switched to KODI or some other app to the foreground.

I've used the same apps with CX-919, Draco AW50, Tronsmart R68 (all of which I own) without ever experiencing these issues....

I bought three of these thinking this might be a box which I like - of course it was an impulse buy (but for $59/ea I dont feel like I was taken) - now I am thinking I should bought one Tronsmart S95 instead...lol

          help...Thoughts?

          Thx

For the background app issue. If the box is rooted, there may be a fix for this from another S905 box. I'll find it and post it here.

Update: First, I don't have this box. The risk is that of the user. I did it on the S95, no problems, but the decision is yours.

I think the solution was deleting the file at /etc/allowbackgroundapp.list. Root required. For safety, backup the file before deleting it, so you can undo it.

thanks man, for that bit of info. I will try it

The new firmware fixed the softkey/nav keys thing.......buuuuuut....

PLAY STORE IS BROKEN!!! argh!! anyone know how to fix this?!?
I cant get any of the apps back which I have been able to get with the previous firmware. they all come up with that dumb "not comatible with your device" crap....

1 step forward, 2 steps back...gotta love china

              Update:

Okay...been trying for hours - apparently the OTA update states that there is a FIX for google play - However, it craps out at 300k. So I have been trying to get it to download by pausing it every 200k that downloads (File size is like 21921K)....been doing this for hours..I can get it to 21916K and thenit just CRASHES!!! argh. Anyone know how to get this stupid OTA manually? Feel like I am back in dial up times waiting for Doom to connect...

Must be some new Chinese form of torture...forget waterboarding....

I tried going to the site thatis listed in build.prop as the FOTAupdate site - of course it doesnt work that way.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it manually???

Also, if I am successful in getting this downloaded, Where is it stored so that I might copy it and post? (I've looked everywhere but not sure where this stupid thing saves..."

                  Thanks

                  Update:

Found where the file is located:
                  Com.droidlogic.otaupgrade/files/update.zip

OTA_update.xml file states it is trying to connect to:
                  198.11.176.47:9090/otaupdate_qbox/xml/download/zip/update.zip

Hope someone can break through and get it - I dunno how to get it without the stupud update app

                  Update:

Okay was able to feed that URL into the browser, and it initiates a download. But yet agian, its just too fast. I think the cn server closes the connection if its too fast. Dunno why.

                  Update:

So, we want to download this file:

                  http://198.11.176.47:9090/otaupdate_...update0102.zip
(This is the name in the XML file I referenced above - I guess it gets renames to update.zip after download?)
So we can download this with browser or whatever!
But when I apply it, via the UPDATE app, it gets into recover, but then says bootloader.p has an error or something?? the ZIP extracts okay. I will check the MD5....but with what? Thanks

                      Hi Jefken3
OE is running on a few other s905 if you have a look around Freaktab,
Unsure if @balbes150 has all the resources to make it happen.
                      Cheers

I have a problem with Netflix. the play store does not allow you to download the app, not compatible device, I downloaded the app from apkmirror.
the app starts but the video does not start.
                          some idea?
                          sorry for my bad English

try this fix for playstore but you have to be rooted
                            1,Root Qbox
2,Run ES explorer with root access
                            3,Delete GoogleLoginService.apk in the ES
                            4,Restart
                            5,Sign in Google playstore again

no improvement., I deleted but at restart goggle play did not ask me to login.
Another problem: I set to spdif audio and sound comes out simultaneously by hdmi and spdif, but HDMI is a distorted sound
I thought it was a good box but it has too many problems.
I'll try to do 20160905 update and see if it improves.
                              Thanks

                                Try this
If you want to access google play and are receiving the cannot connect error the solution is going into the apps and disabling connection manager.
