btw , when i booting my mini m8s, i saw mali drm driver is loaded, perhaps this is mali gpu driver,
what about your? perhaps you could check by type command dmesg?

i just install linux image 3.14.79-84 , but when reboot, it said cannot find root fs.... so i have dropped to shell....

then with new microsdcard, i try to play with official odroid c2 image ( ubuntu64-16.04lts-mate-odroid-c2-20160525.img ), i change BOOT partition files with s905_autoscript and dtb from ubuntu multi, and..... i can boot.... i have ubuntu mate desktop.... the the box restart....
now.... my mini m8s is bricked..... ehehehehe.....

for now.... i still download stock rom, and try this method to un brick.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=361

i will play with Mini M8S tomorrow...
Sorry to hear about the bricking, I have bricked both my Mini M8S and MX-III but successfully unbricked them by flashing the NAND with the windows tool from Chinagadgets. Do you have a Windows pc?
BTW: I'm building the kernel now, will see how it turns out, the kernel you linked to me seems to have Mali-450 support

      Thanks...
      I only have Linux PC.
I'am looking forward for the news about compiling the kernel and Mali support.

Btw, Look like i have done a stupid thing....
When i got "no signal" in my Samsung TV and only blue led in front plus red ligh in back, i thought my Mini M8S Android TV Box is bricked.
It turn out, My HDMI Port on My Samsung TV is somehow "broken".

Right now, i have Android running again.
But, i'am already messed up with u-boot, and My Mini M8S cannot booting from SD Card... even when i press the Reset button....
Before I "Un bricked" it, My Mini M8S will boot SD Card when i inser SD Card in the Slot....

If anyone want to Un Bricked any AMLogic TV Box, and Only Have Linux OS PC or Laptop, you can follow this instructions http://www.stane1983.com/index.php/2...rd-from-linux/
And Get the Right Firmaware/Rom for your TV Box, and you are safe....
For Mini M8S , i use get the ROM from here http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...test-firmware/

I hope this will help every one....

Now, i will try Balbes150 method to boot from SD Card using update_u-boot_20160907.img.xz

        Thanks God....
My Mini M8S can boot from SD Card again....
Now i posting from Ubuntu Mate, with the new kernel linux-image-3.14.79-84_20160926_arm64.deb

i use the method in here http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...thod-and-files
        i use the Universal Version - https://yadi.sk/d/srrtn6kpnsKz2/upda...versal_version
        the file i use:
        - update_u-boot_20160907.img.xz
        - aml_autoscript.zip v0.6 - https://yadi.sk/d/srrtn6kpnsKz2/upda..._version/v_0.6

format my sd card with fat32 using gparted, extract update_u-boot_20160907.img.xz .
then copy update_u-boot_20160907.img and aml_autoscript.zip to micro sd card.
turn on my Mini M8S, go to Apps Home Screen, then click Update&Backup.
Under the "Local Update" section, click "Select".
It will examine the SD Card and you should see the file, "aml_autoscript.zip", select it.
This will return you to the Update&Backup app's home screen.
In the "Local Update" section, click "Update", to run the update.
The update process is fast and it will reboot Mini M8S, then go to Recovery Mode.
this got me panic.... i think i failed the process...

unplug power adapter, take out microsd, then i put LibreELEC microsd,
        plug the power adapter, then....
Tadaa..... i got LibreELEC Boot splash.... and then Kodi....

then shutdown LibreELEC with remote control, un plug power adapter.

now i put Ubuntu Mate microsd, then plug the power adapter....
        Tada,,,, it boot without problem....
i remember, yesterday i cannot boot it, it fail to locate the ROOTFS.....

        so strange.... never mind....
its time to compile the module driver for wifi card and soundcard...
after i check it with LibreELEC, my Sound card is AML M8, like in Mini MX.

@sukanime: great to hear you'r back in business I haven't had any luck compiling the new kernel, the build process stops when compiling driver/built-in with error code 2. I have tried googeling it but found no solution, Im at loss... The new kerne seems to have mali support, unfortunately it does not help me 'cause my intention was to get accelerated video and I just read on the net that the mali is not capable of doing that. It is pretty much a showstopper for what I intended to use the Mini MX-III for. Btw that box died yesterday when I tried to boot an Ubuntu-16.LTS image and it seems that it is not unbrickable, so I switched testing to my Mini M8S. I also have a Beelink MX2 with allwinner H3 cpu and mali 400 GPU.
Since the Mini M8S was intended to run Android and be part of a navigation system in my car I will put work on 905's on hold and consenrate on the Beelink X2 box to see what I can use it for.

That is fine but is does not help... The Mali GPU does NOT have the ability to aid in HW accelerated video decoding/encoding, and that was my main goal. So I decided to split my project, one box for viewing video and get some other box to process the video, don't know what it will be yet.

Hmm, i think you should looking for AMLogic VDPAU Support, not Mali GPU Driver.
VDPAU is for Audio and Video Decoding and Encoding.
GPU is for Open GLES support.

if i read comment in http://cnx-software.com/ in posting about AM Logic, sory i forgot the link , but its about some Android TV Box with S905X or Benchmark.
AmLogic S905 is much better than S905X for Audio and Video.
in there, someone has made a project with, android tv box with SoC Amlogic for Decoding and Encoding, but i don't know if he/she do it in Android OS or GNU Linux OS.

afaik, i don't know the status of VDPAU support in AMLogic.
but in the past, i have been doing Encoding & Decoding with Intel VAAPI and Nvidia VDPAU with mplayer & mencoder in x86 platform.
from quick googling, Broadcom in Rasberry Pi have the best support.
i think you should go to Kodi Forum, LibreELEC and OpenELEC forum to find out.

ps: VDPAU actually technology from Nvidia, but some how this "VDPAU" thing is used as the decoding and encoding technology name for AMD and other too.

                Edit:
I just saw this dmesg in kernel 3.14.79-84

                    Hi balbes150 and Reddwarf,

i have solve the problem, and now i can make Realtek RTL8723BS and AML M8 Soundcard in Mini M8S to work.
Now My Mini M8S have Wifi, Bluetooth, Sound and X11 Accelerated Mali OpenGL 32mbpp 1080p60hz without color mapping error.
I can play Movie with VLC using X11 Video Output (XCB) its very smooth.
I use Firefox 32bit, and its stable.
i use Odroid Ubuntu Mate from Koxx release with custom kernel, and i change s905_autoscript from Ubuntu Multi DTB from balbes150.
                    I'am very happy....
I attach the screenshot when i play anime in VLC.

If anyone want the ubuntu mate image, i will make it and upload it to mediafire.

FYI, after i looking OpenELEC dmesg, lsmod, then you must recompile the whole kernel to make the Wifi and Bluetooth (i'am not test the bluetooth)
if you just compile module driver, you cannot turn on the wifi, its need sdio.

so i compile using linux amlogic source code from Koxx, its 3.14.29 , then copy amlogic wifi folder from OpenELEC kernel source to linux amlogic source code, and edit Makefile, Kconfig to just enable RTL8723BS.
and enable sdio in amlogic wifi section.

                    here the dmesg log:
                    Code:

i have solve the problem, and now i can make Realtek RTL8723BS and AML M8 Soundcard in Mini M8S to work.

FYI, after i looking OpenELEC dmesg, lsmod, then you must recompile the whole kernel to make the Wifi and Bluetooth (i'am not test the bluetooth)
if you just compile module driver, you cannot turn on the wifi, its need sdio.

so i compile using linux amlogic source code from Koxx, its 3.14.29 , then copy amlogic wifi folder from OpenELEC kernel source to linux amlogic source code, and edit Makefile, Kconfig to just enable RTL8723BS.
and enable sdio in amlogic wifi section.

                      here the dmesg log:

ok, but i cannot do it fast.
i will clean it, there a lot of thing that make the size big, the root fs take 18GB disk space.
when i try to make the wifi work, i try to compile alot of kernel source, and never "make clean", i just leave it as it, so its take a lot of space.

when its ready, i will post in here.
