    My build is T5Z0031 is this the latest firmware? I tried using the 1007-T95ZPLUS-v4.zip to update but it wouldn't let me saying that my firmware is newer. The device is still very dark, particularly in Kodi.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

      You probably have a different wifi chip too so I would not recommend downgrading. Try an OTA update and see if there is anything newer. My guess is that you have the latest.

        thanks - it says I have the latest firmware when I try OTA - so I will leave it and live with the dark playback. Thanks for the advice.

          Yoy dont have to live with the dark playback you can play a 4k video sample when you powen on your box but its not a permanent fix you have to do it every time you turn on your box, a permanent fi is to change a line i build prop with es file explorer
          service.bootvideo=0 to
          service.bootvideo=1
          you will only loose the boot animation but this is a p[ermanent fix for dark screen or you can flash superceleron rom for t95z.

              Hi -
              I tried both suggestions above -
              played a 4k movie in kodi - which allowed me to be able to change brightness and contrast - however, when I try to play anything else, these options dont do anything.
              also changed the build.prop setting - and the animation doesnt show on boot up - but that didnt make a difference either. What am I doing wrong?

                I have the generic x-player s912 amlogic box and found superceleron's custom Rom to be way better than the stock one (since it's cleaned of the user apps). With that rom I am running krypton Kodi v17 perfectly.

                        I agree. From screenshots doesn't looked bricked. In terms of what happened is it 1) you tried a flash and it immediately failed to read or 2) flashing was happening and it failed in the middle? Or did something else happened? Starting with that will be helpful.

                        if you try to boot from USB or SD what happens? Looks like you screwed your existing image but perhaps still have enough control to reflash.

                          Just a +1 that the boot video worked for me. No more Dark Screen

                              I just wanted to send a thanks to both to everyone that posted everything on how their T95Z plus wasn't working and thanks to everyone that posted links and how to fix it. I was able to fix my android box today! I downloaded the most current firmware, used the toothpick method to reset while plugging USB into android box while connected to PC and then used the USB Burner tool to transfer the firmware. I hooked it up to my TV and was a little nervous when it was stuck on the T95Z startup animation at the end, but I waited for a few minutes and I have my main home screen back. I had trie to boot from USB and SD and both failed. USB pc and box hookup worked. Everything is working properly now!
