Sorry. I haven't even gotten into Kodi yet. Don't know anything about it. Someone here will know or just do a search for dark picture in Kodi for Android.

EDIT: I just tried Googling: "dark picture in Kodi for Android" without quotes and there's a lot of results.

Most of those posts on google are related to contrast settings. However some of the s912 boxes have a bug that makes them really dark. I hope that it is a firmware issue and not a hardware issue but nexbox forums have info about it and a test firmware to fix it. However it probably wont work on the t95z. nexbox forums are located at tvboxforum.com

Edit: link to the test firmware thrad http://www.tvboxforum.com/showthread.php?tid=1101

Lots of boxes have this problem I've searched but I can't understand if it's a hardware or firmware question, have you guys ever had this problem with the original ROM?

Probably mine is one of those frankenrom (firmware version 9) that you guys talk about in this topic, the most recent rom is the 7?

I haven't tried kodi yet, but my T95Z Plus box is Akaso brand. It came with the T5Z0007 firmware. i tried the System Update app and it seems to be up-to-date.

Everything works so far but the box is inconsistent or buggy. It get intermittent issues with the picture on the TV. On bootup, (not often) I get a half of screen and other times I get a static pattern. And I'm only on a 720p tv. Other times my airmouse starts to freeze or get jittery if my cache is filling. So I'm in the habit of clearing my cache often with a utility app. It doesn't help that I use Nova Launcher and two pop-up blockers running in the background. Also, there's two Play Store apps. And there's of course, " Unfortunately ___ has stopped". These boxes seem have been coded carelessly.

Yes but to get it you have to flash version 4 with a pc and then OTA upgrade to 7.

Yeah, I have been trying to get the source code. So that I could build a clean rom. Pretty much just stock android, but the code is hard to obtain. You have to get approved by Amlogic or get it from some other source and the other sources don't even compile.

Is there any other way besides using a PC?
I use Lubuntu and I'm afraid it wont be compatible.

Are you a developer? It would be great if you could get the source code. I still like the box which my first Android TV Box but sometimes it freaks-out like all computers. Other than tv and movies, I check emails, browse the net, og youtube, news, twitter,(yes occasionally). I thought about returning it, but for 80 bucks, it'll keep me going until something substantially betters comes around. Now my unit (Akaso T95Z Plus) is going for $73 on Amazon.

Adding a link doesn't work.. I remove the link and it says I must add a link to post. I don't understand.

You might be able to use a sdcard but I believe that the program to write the sdcard is also windows based.

I made my own rom and overclocked my rockchip device. Also I made a kernel for someone that needed it but so far I can't get anything to work on these Amlogic devices. Mostly because of the source code restrictions.

Hello Guys.. I hope, everyone can help me... But first, sorry for my bad english...

                            Now my Questions:

                            1. Can i download the T5Z0007 from Sunvell for my Excelvan T95Z?
                            2. When yes, where can i download the Firmware?
                            3. How can i get the firmware into my box? With the MicroSD Card?
                            4. When i updated my Box with the new Firmware, got i lost my Kodi Settings?
                            5. Everyone can help me? Thx a lot

                              1. If your wifi chipset is AP6330 then yes
                              2. You need to download the version 4 of the sunvell firmware in the first post of this thread. Flash that and then do an OTA, you should then be on T5Z0007.
                              3. You need a windows pc with usb burning tool.
                              4. All data is lost when upgrading, however it installs some kodi addons by default.
                              5. Hope that this helps.

I know this thread is for firmware but just wanted to report I don't have the dark screen issue either.in Kodi. I had the TV Addons Kodi and nothing worked for me. There were buffering issues everywhere. I uninstalled all of the preinstalled addons and reset Kodi back to the default app. I haven't done anything with it since. Streaming content is all half-assed like the T95Z Plus is. LOL. But the buffering issue is a huge problem.... and it does not necessary mean you have limited bandwidth either.

Also, where's the clock app? On my GNote4, I use the clock app all the time as a timer and alarm. But on this box, I see Clock(purple thing) in Apps in System Settings. (Need to show system apps) but I don't see it in the app tray. The ONLY way I know to access the clock is to put a clock widget on the home screen but I'm looking for the app itself. Thanks so much.
